Palepale article in The Athletic
Didn't see this posted. A couple of points stood out.
"One play from Michigan’s 24-15 victory cemented Palepale’s decision. When he saw 339-pound Kenneth Grant chase down running back Kaytron Allen from behind, Palepale had a feeling that Michigan was the place for him."
"Given the uncertainty with USC’s defensive staff, Nua supported Palepale’s decision and offered to send a letter of recommendation to Michigan, Palepale said."
Why Deyvid Palepale flipped to Michigan from USC and what he learned from lost senior season

Yep. That play should make every RB think twice about playing for *any* team with M on their schedule. 340 pounds should not be able to move that quickly. 😁

Looked and moved like a dam grizzly. F that.

Nice story but * the athletic.

The Athletic can be pretty good. Hopefully Feldman takes notes and learns what actual stories look like.

Isn't that Nua burning USC on way out ? Writing a letter of recommendation to Michigan.

Who Nua this would happen?

I dunno. Seems like he was a M take without the letter. If you're Nua, you probably feel like you've lost the guy regardless but want to keep a good relationship in case he goes on the transfer market for some reason. I could see why a SC fan would be unhappy, though.

Nua sent the letter of recommendation ... stapled to his resume and current cell phone number.

Going to be some old faces returning to Michigan when the 4 Pac-12 schools join next year in addition to Shaun Nua at USC. Those schools might have more Michigan connections than the ones in the current Big Ten. USC could potentially have some turnover on defense so some of those guys might be on the hot seat.
USC - Roy Manning (Assistant Head Coach/outside LBs), Shaun Nua (DL)
Washington - Nick Sheridan (TE), Courtney Morgan (General Manager of personnel), Jerret McElwain (Director of Scouting)
UCLA - Tim Drevno (OL)
Oregon - Tony Tuioti (DL)

In my sleep-deprived stage I read that as Tim Drevno LOL.

Downvoted for signal-boosting a rag that tried to sink the program.
This piece doesn’t constitute redemption.

OT but logging in to let you know your avatar really cracked up my 6-year-old. Good looking out.

Great choice he made.
Thanks for posting.

Nua can come back and be a recruiting analyst (can't say we'd want him as a scout with all that Alex Grinch Stinch).

He didn't seem to improve the DL much. Not compared to what Elston has done, anyway... But then, Mike Elston is a stud.

I think Nua was hamstrung by Don Brown's favored DT profile: small. If I recall Nua was on the phone to hs DT prospects the day after Brown was let go.

He really wasn't a good recruiter though. Guys he pulled were Kechaun Bennett, George Rooks, and Ike Iwunnah.
Grant and Graham were Courtney Morgan, Moore was Biff. Benny grew up a Michigan fan. He's done nothing that notable at USC as a recruiter.

Totally forgot Nua was over there
December 22nd, 2023 at 9:53 AM ^
Yep, kinda makes you wonder what SC is doing. Nua was pretty solid dline coach imo. But then again he had to coach dt's for don brown here when Brown only wanted tweeners for dt's and kept getting ran over by solid olines.. DL coaches can't fix that

Palepale better be ready to put the same or more work into himself that Grant does!!!! And bring the same ability!

Kenneth Grant is a huge recruiter for us.

Kenny G. What a man.
