OTish: Former Wolverine CB, Andre Seldom Jr. back in portal after 2 very good years at NM State

Submitted by NashvilleBLUE on December 30th, 2023 at 1:19 PM

After New Mexico State’s entire defensive staff and their head coach left, a lot of their players are leaving. One of those players is Andre Seldon, who was arguably their best defensive player. He started at nickel in 22 and then played outside corner last year and actually performed pretty well.

He’s looking to transfer back to a big school and is currently planning to visit the Wisconsin Badgers and Texas AM Aggies, among others. Any mutual interest there from our team and his camp? Knows the program and defensive scheme and proved himself worthy.

Interest, sure.

A&M in the mix….$$$$$

Unlikely.

If I’m a DB looking for the bag, looking $EC, Oregon.  Not knocking any of these kids, btw…makes sense for many to get paid as NFL is not guaranteed.

If I’m a DB with the athleticism and measurables a for NFL, I’m looking Iowa, Michigan.

For both coaching to NFL and bag - Bama and UGA if they come calling.
ie. Domani Jackson - get paid while Saban unlocks your potential.  Win-win

I’m all for these kids getting paid but some of these kids are short sighted. If you’re a high end recruit/transfer the goal should be to get to your second NFL contract. That is the generational money. Depending on the position certain programs should be at the top of player’s lists. Domani looking at M and Bama is a great example. Can’t blame him for picking Bama though.
