Meh.. I've seen coppers charge people with intent to sell even when the amount was less than a couple of grams. It's an easy way to get around decriminalization for small amounts even if it won't lead to a conviction. The police get to look like they are doing someting, and as a side bonus they get to be dicks and waste peoples time. Which is usually their favorite pass time.

The state of Mass. was trying to decriminalize, and the leading backer of the bill was the union for the state police. No saying your wrong and how dare you or anything, it's just that that's what popped into my head as I read your comment. And to prove you are correct, I had less than a gram total, in two seperate bags 15 years ago when I was a bartender, so I had a lot of cash on me when I got caught. Yeah, they thought I was some mastermind drug dealer and he just found el chapo....

Not trying to make law enforcement as an organization seem like an enemy at all. Just that  organization tends to attract human beings with authority complexes who enjoy being in a position of power over poeople that they normally would have no power over at all. Especially during hiring surges.

Hard to believe he really intended to sell weed, given his income.  I don't know CA law, but he probably had more than an ounce, so "intent to sell" is presumed.

I'd like to see him get some punishment for being a dipshit, but I hope it's plead down from a felony.  As far as MSU's offseason goes, people who played there 20 years ago don't necessarily impact the offseason as much as some might think.

From another article,

TMZ Sports added that Randolph was believed to have intent to sell due to the large amount of marijuana allegedly in his possession. TMZ later reported Randolph had "roughly two pounds" of marijuana on him and that it was in a "large backpack."

So.. because he had a large amount and he was carrying it in a backpack (as opposed to what, just in his hands?) they think he was trying to sell it? (edit: guess it's because it was over an oz) lol. Dude just signed a $24 million contract. Also, this has nothing to do with MSU's offseason.

section.   there is no set criteria, but having 2 lbs (a kilo = 2.2046 lbs) of MJ is a boatload.  they will look to see what other indicia of sales he has such as packaging stuff, pay/owe sheets, money for street sales, scales, a heater, etc.   none of those are a lock to get him convicted but the more there are, the more likely he's at least 'distributing' even if its just given away.

guessing he ends up with a straight possession under 11357 and gets diverted.

in front of some projects in South Central LA, where a large crowd was smoking, apparently.  Probably wasn't "selling" it for money, but giving it away.  A little charitable donation to those in need.  One way to gain fans in your new home state, I guess?

I hate to repeat the typical circle jerk, but follow Cris Carter's advice and get a fall guy dude. This guy has a net worth of $65 million and is carrying around 2 lbs of weed? Pay someone a salary to be your personal delivery guy. Don't care about the weed, it's the stupidity.

Tom Wopat (Dukes of Hazzard) was arrested a week or so ago with 2 pounds of cocaine.  He said he buys in bulk for personal use so that he doesn't have to make purchases all the time.

Holding on to a large quantity of a drug you enjoy and use regularity, doesn't mean you intend to sell it. Having to take the risk of getting busted every time you buy it is inconvenient as hell. Buying in bulk and being set for a long time is the way to go. Not advocating breaking the law either, just saying from long ago experience.

Who knows how much $ Zach has? Let's assume he still has a good pile.

Has he forgotten how to assemble a posse? Doesn't he have a drug mule? He probably has enough money to completely avoid multiple kinds of risk.

As a co-worker said when Plaxico Burress got in gun trouble: When you're rich, why not pay someone else to do the carrying and shooting?
