OT: Your 5 Official Vists

Submitted by West Texas Blue on
Came across a thread on Scout boards and thought I'd bring it here (Credit Scout poster DJLILD18). With it being offseason and many recruits starting to take their official visits, thought about what would be my 5 official visits if I was a blue chip recruit. 1) USC - Carroll has built a monster of a program, and I absolutely love SoCal. This is a program that all the kids want to be a part of, so it would be a must to check it out. Can't forget about the Song Girls. 2) Oregon - I would love to tour their facilities. Phil Knight has done a great job in turning Oregon's facilities into one of the best in the nation. Would be fun to spend an afternoon session discussing offense strategies with Chip Kelly. 3) Ole Miss - The co-eds and The Grove. Enough said. 4) Texas Tech - Mike Leach is a legend down here in West Texas, especially with his "pirates" routine, so it would be awesome to hang out with him and discuss stuff. Texas Tech co-eds are top notch also. 5) Michigan - Gotta save the best for last. I would give anything to be able to go through the facilities and run down the tunnel onto the field just like gametime. I've already experienced AA as a student, but it would be even better as a player for the team. What would everyone's else 5 Official Visits be?

since I live here and can see the campus whenever I want. I'd take my trips. 1. USC-The girls, the program, everything. Also would unofficial to UCLA while out there. 2. Oregon-Like you said, the facilities would be awesome to see. 3. Texas-I've always been fascinated by their program that I wouldn't be able to pass on that chance. Also, I like being in Texas. I would probably unofficial to Texas Tech and A+M while there. 4. Notre Dame-yeah yeah, blashpemy and what not. Just the chance to tour the campus would be fun. 5. LSU-Have to put an SEC school on here and I hate this one less than the others. Maybe Auburn instead? Good topic!

I won't spend a trip to Michigan either because I live close enough to see it all without the official. FYI, I'll be a 5-star pro-style QB recruit with Tate's accuracy and Stafford's gun. Also, I'll be a genius. 1. Oregon - The facilities look absolutely amazing and I'd want to get the 5-star treatment there. I'd also like to be on the sidelines for a game at Autzen. 2. USC - The creme de la creme of college football recruiting, I have to take a trip to SC to meet Pete Carroll and see a game at the Coliseum. Hopefully I'll get a bunch of shady benefits while I'm there. Also, the ladies. Of course. 3. Texas - Mack Brown is a monster recruiter, and if I'm taking an official to Texas I'm a big time recruit. Again, I'd want to see a game at the stadium and meet some of the fine UT cheerleaders. 4. Cal - As a recruit, when I say academics matter I'll mean it. Berkeley is a great school and I'd love to see the campus. 5. Arizona State - ASU won't have a chance for my services, but the ASU girls shouldn't be missed on an official visit.

First off great topic! My boys and I debate this all the time. Second, ASU girls are amazing! I live in Tempe and have always wondered why they can't get better recruits...take said prospect and place him in the student section where he will be undoubtedly surrounded by about 25 hot blonde chicks...he would sign on the spot! But here is my list: 1. Michigan: Duh... 2. USC: For pretty much the same reasons everyone has mentioned. Pete Carroll, Southern California, song girls. 3. Florida State: I have always heard no one works a living room like Bobby Bowden. It would be great to meet him and here his schpeal. Also, I have always kind of liked Florida State dating back to Charlie Ward. Lastly, it's Florida State; nice weather, hot chicks. 4. Texas: Austin is sweet and Mack Brown is a great recruiter. Great facilities, big time school, and apparently the parties they throw for recruits are amazing. 5. Florida: Only if Erin Andrews excorts me around the entire weekend and I never have to meet Urban Meyer or Tim Tebow. Also, must be able to tour "The Swamp" and get to hook up with the chick everyone thought was Tebow's girl friend...you all have seen the picture.

As Kung Foo Panda would say: Agreed - Great topic for debate (What? My kids are all under 5.) Here’s the list: 1. Michigan - Of course 2. USC - Much like the rest of the comments, I would use USC as my barometer for judging the football program. 3. Oklahoma - Powerhouse, on TV a lot - Has the 2nd best rivalry in the nation. 4. Florida St. - Bowden! Cousin played QB for him in the 80's. 5. LSU - Another powerhouse, big time pro potential. Baton Rouge isn't too bad a place to be 8 months out of the year.

(and excluding Michigan since I've seen it all a thousand times) 1. Oregon - the facilities. Somebody posted the YouTube video of Dennis Dixon touring the facilities and they look unreal. 2. Air Force - seemingly from left field, but I hear Colorado Springs is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. 3. Stanford - to kick Jon Harbaugh in the nuts. And then to tour another beautiful campus. 4. Maryland - I've heard that they have all brand new athletic facilities that are among the nation's best, and probably underrated since they are generally not recognized for that I don't think. 5. Nebraska - A lot of tradition and prestige that I would like to get an insight into. And then tear down any memorabilia of their 1997 "national championship" banners

1) Ole Miss - Cant get enough of the Grove and the Southern Belles!!! 2)Pepperdine - I don't even know if they have a football team, but have you seen the arial view of that campus? WOW! 3) Texas - Hook em Horns!! Once again, those Cowgirls are right up my alley. 4) LSU - I'd be drunk...Before I got there, while I was there and 3 days after I got home. Oh, I want to see what one those Crystal Footballs looks like. 5) USC - I would go here just to get PAID!!!! I'd be broke as hell after my other 4 stops. And in the end I would commit to Michigan !!!!!!!!!!

my five would be... 1.) Penn State - love the tradition, love the uniforms, love the night game atmosphere, love the rural setting. Would be nice to see JoePa in action, as well. 2.) Texas - just seems like a great place to be a football player. Top program in the (arguably) top football state. 3.) Colorado - campus is beautiful, and I would probably have a shot at playing early. 4.) LSU - so many reasons...a must hit visit for the 5* talent that is myself. 5.)Boston College - great education, great city, sends players to the NFL.

1) Michigan- I live in Canada and have only ever seen the campus once. 2) Okie St- I've been hearing a lot about their facilities lately. Also, no-one else here picked them, and I like being different. 3) Miami- I like da U. Also love the city of Miami. 4) USC or UCLA- Whichever one has the hotter women. 5) Florida- Just so I could hopefully meet the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ himself.

1) Ohio State - To get some much needed cash to spend while visiting the other 4, plus a late 90's corvette or something. 2) Michigan - because education is really important to me, no seriously, I'm different than all the other guys who say that. 3) UNC - I really have to hear this sales pitch that apparently can win over anyone 4) LSU - I'd really like to play for a real Michigan man, except for the part where he said he didnt want to coach us. 5) one of the Miamis - Whichever one lets their players get away w/ more off the field shenanigans.

I wouldn't take one at Michigan, because I'd see all that stuff when I enrolled. 1. Texas- Tradition, a beautiful campus, and great facilities. Also Austin is awesome for so many reasons, not the least of which are all the Texas girls. Ugh. 2. USC- Obvs. 3. LSU- Never been to Louisiana, always wanted to go. Maybe take a little jaunt down to NoLa afterward. 4. UNC- Southern Belles. 5. Hawaii- Dude, free vacation in Hawaii.

1) Florida - never been to Gainsville and hear the ladies are top notch. 2) Arizona - see above 3) Illinois - I've been to their campus many times and I'm really curious to hear their pitch that gets the occasional Benn to commit because their campus is a shithole and smells like one too... 4) Oregon - have to see the facilities first hand 5) Texas - I love Austin Michigan is left out because I've been there tons of times and know what I'd be seeing...

to check out college towns and take free trips. I have lived in AA and Athens, GA. I currently teach at Mississippi State and have been to Oxford several times. I would love to see some college towns I have never visited. 1. Texas - I have heard great things about Austin. Maybe I could time it to get there during SXSW. 2. Colorado - Ditto Boulder. 3. Wisconsin - I have never been and hear it is a lot like AA. 4. Hawaii - Not really a college town, but free trip to Hawaii as been mentioned. 5. USC - Not really a college town, but song girls. Then commit to UoM.

my five officials would probably be: 1 - Clemson - Great atmosphere, great coeds and solid academics. 2 - University of Pittsburgh - Coeds might not be as great as some other places, but I still really like everything else about the place 3 - USC - For the same reasons that everyone has already stated 4 - Arizona State - I'd never be able to stand the heat, but I want to experience the hottest* campus in America for myself. 5 - UCLA - I've heard UCLA and Michigan compared several times, so I have a strong feeling that I would like it there.

Is 5 Michigan officials possible? Florida: growing up has always been my second favorite school, now with all the NC's even more reason. Arizona State: The girls are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!!! (been to a party there and I'll personally attest to that) (commit)(decommit) USC: Again the girls, great football tradition. Oregon: Been there once and It was and experience! UCSB: What can I say I'm a 3b at heart and from what I hear the best party school in the country! (commit)

I'll leave off Michigan and UVA* for fairness reasons. These are basically schools that I've either never seen and really want to, or have seen a little of and liked a lot and want to see more. And they are mostly in sweet towns, or at least I think they are and want to find out. Texas Georgia Ole Miss North Carolina Iowa State Don't laugh. ISU is supposed to be a fantastically beautiful campus. I want to go see it. Honorable mention: Cornell, Washington, Wisconsin. *P.S. - None of you bastards would take an official to the only American university that's also a UNESCO World Heritage site? You'd visit VT and even friggin' Maryland? Screw all y'all.

As a blue-chip recruit (no particular order): 1. ASU - For the, um, articles 2. Washington - Great city, great place to play, and the stadium and its views are amazing. 3. Oregon - While I'm up there, might as well see Autzen stadium and hear just how loud it really could be. 4. Penn St. - Just to have Joe Pa tell me to "cometoPennState!" 5. UM - Okay, maybe a homer pick. Still, one of the best college towns in America. As a fan/160 lb guy (no particular order): 1. ASU - Again, the articles. 2. Standford - great part of the country, and a beautiful campus. 3. Florida-Georgia game - not really a school, but the atmosphere is apparently top-notch. 4. Cotton Bowl - Red River Shootout - have family in Oklahoma; rivalry is insane. 5. Notre Dame - say what you will, but a Saturday in the fall in South Bend can be magical.
