OT: Wings get Salei
He's old, but Babcock knows him, so the scales tilt toward the good side here. Their third pair was weak last year, so this can't hurt too much.
Let me be less negative: "so this could help out some."
Another nice under-the-radar addition by the Wings. At a very decent price too.
The Wings will be very solid this season, providing they avoid the killer injuries they had last season.
They will be in the mix for the Cup and thats all we can really ask!
Price is the key with Salei. They needed someone with experience to pair up with Ericsson.
Good player. Fair price. Salei is a very good role player. I would also guess third line. He adds depth and we all saw what happened last year with injuries.
Good signing, eases Kindl in the lineup. In case Kindl has trouble playing up to the competition that the NHL brings everynight, they can plug in Salei. Great value.
The third pair wasn't weak when Lilja was in there. I take it this signing means he's gone?
Lilja wants more money and ice time than the Wings can offer.
I misread the title and thought it said "Wings get Sale".I was quite hopeful you meant Jamie Sale.
Wanted to work in the Sale/Pelletier joke, but I defaulted to my "no Canadian figure skating references ever, even as a joke, rule." The Sale FHM picture is an exception to that rule, of course.
I dont think that Ruslan Salei will be a better option than Kindl, Meech, Lebda or Lilja...they let the latter two go and I personally think if they were going to add a d-man they should have tried to add Willie Mitchell, but his asking price might have been too high....in any case, I trust Ken Holland and will go with whatever he does, even if I don't agree with it right away.
Mitchell...I'd rather have Jerod Ward.
I've learned to trust Ken Holland on these things. I've come to the conclusion that he does a great job with the team regardless of my opinions.
