bears repeating: Navarre for all his faults, is the last Michigan QB to beat THE state university of ohio.

don't waste it reading his crap
|4 years 2 days ago||Tattoo, that is Mr. Terrelle Pryor. He seeks a throwing motion.||
F**k the Bucks, obviously, but f**k the NCAA moreso. Nickel and dime us to death for this kind of stuff, or for not counting 20 minutes of stretching each week, while some schools (let's not name conferences) will sign 40 kids per class and find a way to cut them from scholarships eventually.
Just drop your non-profit status and acknowledge that you're a cash cow (e.g., advertisements for every break in play in every game in the bball tournament) and I'll be ok.

|4 years 2 weeks ago||Well, hopefully, the Free||
Well, hopefully, the Free Press as currently constituted won't continue to operate forever. I'm reminded of it, however, because it's for sale on newsstands in my neighborhood.
I also think that this diary is different and more valuable than the run-of-the-mill "Look at today's column from Columnist X - what an idiot" message board thread because it (the diary) quantifies the financial impact of bad reporting and also shows (anecdotally, perhaps) that people aren't letting the Free Press slide on this one.
Also, it's a given that the football program will continue to operate without regard to my emotional state, but I knew that going in...
|4 years 2 weeks ago||With all due respect, telling||
With all due respect, telling everyone to move on could be interpreted as a pass to the Free Press for its reprehensible conduct.
Better to insert "continue the boycott and" before "let's move on."
I think that the diary is important in reminding us of the financial consequences of the Free Press' crusade, and also in showing that the paper has lost hearts/minds/readership of a significant portion of Michigan supporters.

Which doesn't do a hard copy of its own paper now? That could be another reason.
The "Game Notes" PDF available on mgoblue.com is just as informative, but at over 30 pages, it's a little bulky to take with you into the game.

Even though he was in the pre-interblogmessagechatboardz era, I think Navarre caught a little more flak then Forcier has so far.

|4 years 16 weeks ago||Agreed that this can cut both||
Agreed that this can cut both ways, but it's more useful information than the more generalized stats that will get trotted out in in the media guide (e.g. M's record all-time against Big East schools, M's record all-time at home openers, etc.)
Either way, just get this thing started already.

RR pasted Edsall's team a couple of times (66-13 one year, I think). I'll take it at this point, and hopefully it means that Edsall doesn't know how to defend a Rodriguez spread offense.

I think the Badgers should be ahead of Miami (YTM) by virtue of having beaten them in the bowl game last year, and because Bucky returns 19 or 20 starters. I don't know why Miami should jump them.
As to Penn State, I have to think that their QB issues are going to be too much for their defense to overcome, at least as far as getting them a spot in the early season polls.

His dad was around, and had a decent paying job at GM if recall correctly. While I fully agree with CWebb's point about the U getting rich off of the Fab 5's image, and the players themselves not getting a cut, I don't think that his childhood was particularly rough. Compare his with Juwan's (raised by his gma) or Jalen's, for example.

Wanted to work in the Sale/Pelletier joke, but I defaulted to my "no Canadian figure skating references ever, even as a joke, rule." The Sale FHM picture is an exception to that rule, of course.

Let me be less negative: "so this could help out some."
|4 years 20 weeks ago||Jones - 2009 Big 10 POY||
It's not Jones' fault, but I can't give him any credit because he won the '09 POY over Brandon Graham. Credit to Jones if he has a hell of a season this year that gets him in the top half of the 1st round of the draft next April.

|4 years 28 weeks ago||What do it say about Michigan fans in general?||
Unfortunately, a lot of people that I talk to still don't know about Mgoblog, and they still want to talk about M based solely about what they have read in the Free Press and have supplemented with hearing on sports talk radio. Hopefully the fanbase is coming around, but there is still a large number of unfortunately (and, probably, innocently) uninformed fans out there. Let us continue the Crusade.
