OT: What's on tap? I.e., what pairs well with roasted duck?
And about 6-8 Stellas...
not that candy-assed 2%
and then drink milk at all occasions.
An Alsatian riesling goes nicely with foie gras.
Man I cannot wait to have beer tomorrow. It would be fantastic if Michigan wins tonight so I can booze whilst watching them in the Elite Eight on Saturday night.
Try a Belgian Strong (Chimay, Rochefort Trappistes, Corsendonk etc.).
If those aren't your thing, Ambers are great with duck (Bells Amber, Round Barn Indecision etc.).
Poultry typically pairs well with saisons and farmhouse ales, but in this case I'd say wash it down with a Boilermaker.
A Michigan win
A Blue Moon?
Love SdP...Orval might be another good selection with duck
I need to drink a LOT more beer to make that determination!
But a saison is a good call - nice and fruity with some spice and good carbonation. Great summer beer.
Normally I dont drink on school nights, but I'm going to have a couple coors banquets during the game.
If we win I'm breaking out the Lagavulin 16 and a fresh Cohiba Esplendidos.
If we lose, well... I guess I will go to bed.
Washed down with Sparty tears.
I just tapped my keg of home brewed AAPA (Ann Arbor Pale Ale). Could use another day to carbonate but what the hell! This is the pregame drink.
For the game I will drink whatever crap they have on tap these days at the Jug.
with some fava beans and a nice chianti
I'm getting drunk tonight.
It's Red Bush time.
Can't go wrong with pinot noir for duck, either Burgundy or new world.
this, a million times. my preference, Kosta Browne Kanzler vineyard
Likely some Belgian Trippel that I brewed. Gotta watch the volume intake though, they can sneak up on ya. Being hungover on a Friday when you're expected to do real work is not fun.
+1 for the home brew, not for watching the volume intake!
I like to break out one of these for big games. Seems appropriate somehow.
very rich flavor. enjoy.
goes well with everything.
Ironically, setting up for a Ducks Unlimited fundraiser shortly. Thoughts on ducks - Don't like the Oregon kind, we need more duck habitat (wetlands), wild duck (puddle ducks and a few divers) are just about the best-tasting tight-grained red meat around (although high in cholesterol), domestic duck tastes like Moby Dick's ass, and lastly Stranahan's pairs well with Michigan victories.
Local pub has Surly Barrel Aged Darkness (2016) on tap. I'm thinking of watching it at local pub and bonging some of the Darkness /s
Sparks and a bag of pork rinds.
I like something bubbly with duck because it's so fatty/rich. My go-to is prosecco.
Fresh As Helles in a chilled University of Michigan glass. Cheers and Go Blue!
either humble pie or crow.
Or in some cases both.
