OT: Warren worthy of a 7th rounder?

Submitted by itsallgood65 on
What do you guys think about the Lions using one of their 7th rounders to grab Warren? It seems to me that it would be a great value pick even with the Lions already taking a DB in this draft...

I'm surprised he hasn't been taken yet either. Talented guy. He might be a good short yardage back for the lions to use when they pull Best out of the game.

if he hadn't KTFO'd that dude he would have been a second rounder. Oakland has a pick left, wouldn't shock me if they too him. I could have seen the Steelers taking him if not for their need to focus on character guys after the big ben fiasco.

half of this board needs to realize DW didn't lock down anyone this last year, Golden Tate and Michael Floyd ran wild as well as many other WR, with his poor combine he didn't help the argument that our horrible defense made it too difficult for him..Hes not the elite CB we want him to be

You really don't want to be one of these last picks - better to be a free agent. It gives one team your rights without much compensation. Let Warren go undrafted and try and pick someplace he is comfortable and may have a chance. If raw speed is the issue and he can't improve on that somehow (e.g. if he was just not in shape when clocked) he is going to have a problem and probably made a mistake coming out this year.

On one hand, we have DW who seems to have made a horrible decision to leave early, and on the other we have Taylor Mays who seems to have made a bad decision to stay.

Yeah, but how could Warren think he would get drafted high? I thought I read something where he was talking about being drafted by the second round. No one though he'd drop this far and probably not get drafted, but no one thought he'd be any higher than a 3rd. And then he had a bad combine. So he really didn't have any chance of going until the 5th, and now he's free falling. There must be something else going on.

I think it's safe to say that some serious red flags (e.g., character, injury, something else?) must have been raised about DW*. He didn't play like a Joe Haden, but he certainly has the talent to be one of the top 10 CBs in the draft. Something must have come out that made teams avoid him like the plague. *Please don't interpret this as me ripping him. I like DW. Just stating the obvious.

I'm really sorry that this happened to Donovan. He was an excellent corner for us, and I wish things had worked out better for him. Hopefully he can catch on somewhere and still do the Michigan name proud.

Sorry Donovan. Apart from the fact that you left early, I really, really liked you. OTOH, I wonder if this is going to keep guys in the program longer. You know they're all gonna be talking about it.

This was a terrible decision by DW, and I hope that he can catch on with a practice squad. Given the Lions' need at the position and their three picks in the last round, that speaks volumes about what NFL scouts think about him. When Stevie Brown went in the 7th round, DW must have thrown something at the TV. I guess the only thing that is a positive is that Warren can pick which camp he wants to compete at. Go Blue!

I guess not. I feel terrible for him. I'm sure he wishes he could turn back the clock and stay in school. I hope he can latch on somewhere and have a good career.

It shows what the combine does. Compare Warren to Trent - Warren was a better player on the field for Michigan. Then Trent ran a fast 40, rocked the cones, and was the strongest CB at the combine. The Bengals saw all that athletic ability, figure he was coached like shit, and drafted him...and he was a productive rookie. Warren shows up, runs the same time as the offensive tackle from Maryland, and...POOF.

Fuck Warren....he bailed on us when we needed him most. The day he declared to be going I told my friend I hope he doesn't get drafted....today the middle finger goes back to him.

You're one sick son of a bitch. So when someone says something crazy it's cool to wish death upon them? "Die in a fire". Didn't that happen recently in Ann Arbor? You should be banned for such an asinine comment like that.

I think he obviously meant that hyperbolically. It's all about context. Of course, if you want to see how the board typically reacts when someone posts something like that without context, just go write a bunch of hate-speech "die" responses in a bunch of other threads, and you'll see a ban-hammer pretty quick. Oh wait, you've done that already. So you know!
