OT: USMNT vs Guatemala: Final Gold Cup Tune-Up
Coming off road wins against the Netherlands and Germany, the USMNT kicks off at 5:30pm CT in Nashville at Nissan Stadium (formerly LP Field - naming rights changed last week). Anyone going? Looks like it'll air on Fox Sports 1.
My prediction: 3-1 U.S.
Jozy. He is still far and away our best option up top.
In the end the gold cup will come down to Mexico, CR, and the U.S. If we can Impose our attacking will on the other two, we should have a decent shot at winning it and avenging that awful collaplse in the Rose Bowl 4 years ago.
Chicharito is out for Mexico, definitely puts a damper on Mexico's finishing.
Would like to see Johannson get more playing time. I really hope Jozy can stay healthy.
I like what I saw from Zardes in the 2 game Europe swing. He is around the ball a lot (which is a skill in and of itself) and has some nice pace to him. I think his anticipation skills are far superior to Jozy which for a sniper is a key thing - be where the ball will be not where it is.
It will be curious to see if he continues to improve and takes Jozy's job.
If anyone is going to take Jozy's job as a starter, I would much rather see Johannsson start.
I'm a big fan of the forward that played at AZ and can't establish any real consistency
I presume (probably wrongly) that the roster for this game will be about 95% of whom we will see in the Gold Cup, correct?
The 23 man roster is the same that will be in the Gold Cup, the starting 11 may be different than who starts the Gold Cup matches but I imagine it will be similar.
This game is a lock for the U.S. No chance of us losing to the Guats.
Club seats for $60 in a section that's already up to $125 on StubHub...hoping they get ridiculously high and I can even make a little money should the US not make the final.
I live 5 minutes away from the stadium and I will be at the game cheering on USA

Wow - looks like they imported the pitch from Guatemala for this game
Does anyone see the point of Graham Zusi out there. I think he's a solid MLS player but in internationals he seems a step slow and several inches too short. I'd so one see Beckerman back there supporting those wacky center defensemen and serving the ball forward to allow Bradley to move forward and Fabian and Yedlin To release further
Well that was a firm ass stomping. Nice Fourth of July gift for the Men with a 4-0 thumping. Goals were an own goal the a bullet by Tim Chandler, a PK by Dempsey and a pretty tap in by Wondo from a great play by Gyasi Zardes. Altidore had a first half PK that was stopped (on a kind of weak shot).
Hopefully the women can deliver Sunday.
