Hey look! Someone desparately seeking attention, let's all make a big deal out of it! Wait, what? There's other people copying them now?

I got an email from my son's school warning us about a clown hoax. The email linked to a story about this new clown menace and one of the six photos at the top of the page was FauxMo's avatar.

I don't get it either and have made the same joke about it just being a spike in Juggalo sightings.

Tell you what though, mask or no mask if you tried accosting me I would do whatever I had to ...

step on your big, clown shoes..

punch you in the nutsack..

choke you out with that scarf that comes out of your sleeve..

drown you with your carnation .....  whatever it would take.

problem is that, as of right now, it is basically just people dressed in clown suits.  That is not illegal.  Somebody is eventually going to enact some form of violent counter-measure on one of these clowns and then they are going to like WTF when they are charged with a crime for it.  Heads up, dressing up like a clown may be really, really stupid but it is not in and of itself illegal.  So, before people are all "I will kick a clowns ass, etc. etc." remember that you are not protected by the law with the "clown defense."

That's been my concern about this. Someone is going to defend themselves because they are so frightened by the encounter and be prosecuted because the clown was unarmed or something. It's all just dumb and dangerous.

Is that really still a thing? I went to tons of birthday parties as a little kid and there was never a clown entertainment portion. Only time I ever saw a clown was at the circus and in Stephen King's movie 'It.' I don't have kids so maybe I'm out of the loop but a clown at a birthday party seems outdated, like something you'd see more in the Leave it to Beaver age.

I still don't get it....

A sudden uptick in the number of people expressing their Constitutional Right to dress like a clown..?

Some weird social media phenomenon where (younger) folks are just dressing like clowns (or at least with masks) just to mess with people?

Because wasn't there a real threat in South Carolina of some man dressed as a clown trying to lure kids away from an apartment complex?  I mean, if I see some jackass at a bus stop dressed as a clown, more power to him.   But if some dude dressed as as clown walks up to me in my alley while I am in the garage, all bets are off.

I saw a law enforcement officer say it was illegal in his jurisdiction to wear a mask outdoors. So maybe the laws are different in different areas. I don't think that gives you the right to attack a clown. Let's not forget that the laws concerning justifiable self-defense vary greatly from state to state.

the site, but I did see a video of a clown trying that scare shit outside a public venue and a group of five dudes set off after him to beat his ass. These clowns are taking some risk in their dumb fun.

I don't know if these bozos realize how dangerous their actions are. They are causing so much concern and fear that people honestly see them as a threat. If someone is armed when they leave their home, and one of these clowns "pranks" them, people could very easily be harmed or worse. Hopefully this all just goes away after Halloween.
