Most smartphones now have QR code scanners built into their cameras.
You just turn on your phone camera and point at the QR code and it will point to a link of some kind.
As the poster shared apparently it goes to player Bios and such.
Preumably this is to help build their "brand"? IDK. gimmicky, but I'm old (Shakes fist at cloud)

Okay I mean yes I understand that part but I'm trying to envision a scenario in which you're able to scan a player's jersey with an unobstructed view without any folds in the jersey and it seems like it would be a nightmare.
I knew what you meant. I was thinking the exact same thing. What about if you are in the stands? How the hell are you going to scan from that distance?
They used one on the megatron at the Dodgers game last night. Folks with a direct head-on view were able to use it, there were twentythousand other folks holding up their phones and looking baffled.
TBH, this seems like a technology that should be restricted to rotating beer tap lists.

I guess? It would work if the TV programmes put their QR code on the screen alongside their name/stats whenever they had a nice play....oh and also if it directed traffic directly to their NIL (in exchange for some token souvenir of course) account.

My thought exactly! Instead of "holding, #85 on offense" we'll get "holding... on Bowser".
Instead of bouncing around for the camera when they make a great play. the players will stand still with their backs to the camera so you can scan off the TV screen at home.

How are these even allowed, isn't it a penalty to have two players on the field with the same number, how can you have 11 with QR codes that all look the same to the human eye.
I wonder if the bothered to confirm these are game legal....

Hey, if the ref didn't have his phone ready to scan the QR code to know which player was committing pass interference, then he can't call pass interference. Mike Dantonio would be all over this.

Even if they were standing right behind a player, you'd need them to be somewhat stationary for this to work. Seems like this is a marketing gimmick at best
