First timer with embedding.

I think this is such a clown show.  Failed his try at MLB and now his boy is coaching the Jags.

What say y'all? (since it's the South)

Don't care, good for him, eff this guy??

Why can’t he try out? If he can prove his worth, good for him. It’s not like he is just asking to be put on the team. I don’t get the Tebow hate or understand why you think it’s a clown show.

So... you don’t have any reasons? You just don’t like the guy?

If you don’t like the media circus that has followed him, that’s fine. That’s also not his fault. I don’t know what HE has done that makes him so unlikeable though. He’s an upstanding guy who does a lot of charity work. Good dude, media magnet, but not a good NFL or MLB player.

A fair question deserves a fair answer.

Tebow last played in a regular season NFL game in 2012, as a quarterback.

He had zero receiving yards in the NFL.

Now, nine years later, he is trying out as tight end the first year his college football head coach gets an NFL gig.

I believe that constitutes as a clown show, at least a goat rodeo.

Who said he couldn’t try out? I don’t think anyone thinks he should be barred from working out for a team. But that doesn’t mean anyone has to take it seriously. Tebow hasn’t played in professional football for nearly 8 years, he’s not really a young athletic guy anymore (he’s 33), and he never caught a pass in the NFL nor played the TE position.

Also, Tebow is a douchebage. He’s always been an obnoxious and self-centered person.

If he does end up getting a spot with the Jags, then good for him. But that doesn’t mean we can’t clown both him and the Jaguars for this.

It's fine if he wants to try out, but if I was a first-year HC I probably wouldn't be incredibly happy about the possible distraction a former player of mine, who hasn't played football in nearly a decade and would be trying out a completely different position at the highest level at an age (33) most guys retire at, would bring to my first training camp.  I guess at the same time it gives Jacksonville something to talk about.

It is a clown show that he's being brought in at all, but this is also the NFL so I doubt they much care.

Might be a little awkward for Urban. But I like awkward for Urban. Tim Tebow is like the Michael Jordan of not quite so talented athletes, miles more talented than probably any of the people who daily look down from the safety of their anonymity and make snide comments to feel a little better about themselves here. Let him try! You have to be trying pretty hard to puff any heat into this one.

How is he unlikable. My wife's friend's boyfriend works maintenance at the Mets stadium in Port St lucie. He said that Tebow was the nicest guy he ever met. Said he would talk to the younger players about his faith and would hold Bible sessions. You don't have to like him as a football player but if you say he's unlikable, you're probably just an extremely jealous person

Good luck, I hope he makes it.  He is an all around good guy and I like to see good guys succeed.  I also think he fell under some Urban Meyer spell but what can you do?

Tebow has signed to fight Jake Paul this summer at a Cracker Barrel parking lot in Gainesville, Fla.

Kinda sad. I mean what happens when he's not the starting TE1. Do you see Tim Tebow just chilling on the sidelines or the practice squad? I really think Urban Meyer loves winning more than Timmy and I'm just not seeing it. Although I will say I do appreciate the competitive spirit and think he's a good guy.

Sure I can see Tebow hanging with the sideline crowd, that pretty much sums up his baseball career. Trying out for TE in today’s NFL is a terrible idea for Timmy, he gonna get beat up. I does keep his name in the papers, though.

I think he should move on from competing in professional sports. Why risk injury/concussion now?  He married Miss Universe 2017. Just enjoy your life, Tim.

Never really had anything against the dude, seems perfectly fine.  But to give this a go now just because Urban is there, seems like a weird not attainable long shot but I could see Urban making it work just because its him.  If it happens and he never plays, what a "this aint college" type of moment.

I want to see 9+ losses so bad for the Jags. I feel like a lot of fans are going to be rooting for him (urban) to lose.

I'm personally hoping for something more like Chip Kelly at Philly or even better Jimmy Johnson at Miami. What I mean is I want to see Urban be successful enough that they don't fire him (at least not for the first couple of years), but not so successful that he wins anything more than the occasional wild card game.

That way Urban stays in the pros and away from the college game.

As for Tebow, if he were smart he'd be trying to get Urban to help him get into coaching. His best days as an athlete are behind him and have been for some time.

The NFL isn't where he'd be successful starting out, but I'm sure he'd be able to get a lower level coaching job without too much trouble. I don't know if he'd be any good at it but there are a lot of mediocre to bad coaches out there.

He can still poach staff while he's at Jacksonville, and I'm not convinced he's going to hurt Ohio State's recruiting all that much. Yeah, he'd be competing for the top national recruits against Ohio State, but that's true of any coach at USC or Texas or any other likely landing spot.

Keep in mind he'd also be recruiting against Michigan for those top national players.

He could still end up at Notre Dame, where I think he would cause more serious problems for both Michigan and Ohio State recruiting.

Oh the irony with this...

10 years ago: You're not a good NFL caliber QB, but you'd be one hell of a Tight End.

Tebow: LOL. Tight End? I'm out. (Quits the NFL to pursue MLB)

Today: Tebow: "Hey coach. Can I try out for TE?"

Urban: "Hold on. Let me tuck my boner away. Heck yeah. Come on down!"

This would have been a smart move 10 years ago. He was never going to succeed as a QB.

I dislike him as an athlete but it is because people severely overrated him because they liked his overt brand of Christianity.

Yeah, he should have been doing this 10 years ago.  He's 33.  Most NFL TEs are nearing retirement /retired at age 33, not trying to get started.

Travis Kelce has been around forever, has been a 6-time Pro Bowler, and is only 31.

In defense of Tebow's baseball attempt, he wasn't a TERRIBLE baseball player.  He hit .273/.336/.399 at AA in 2018.  That's better than 99% of us could do.  It just isn't good enough to get to the majors.  In his one season in AAA he was awful and that was kind of the end of it.  31 year-olds who hit .163 in AAA don't really get another chance.

But he DID have baseball talent.  I just think he had the size that he could have converted to a TE Jake Riemersma style.  Riemersma was only slightly bigger than Tebow and had a very solid 8 year NFL career with 221 catches and 23 TDs.

If he can make it work then good for him. He's been out of the game for a while and while he undoubtedly keeps himself in good shape, I doubt he's in football shape, so he'll be facing an uphill battle. His age also doesn't really help, as this is probably something that he should've done 7-8 years ago. But I'm sure if he wanted to, he would've. Either way, you can't ever question the guy's drive, and with his boy Meyer running the show you know he'll at least get a fair shot.

If he does get a spot on the team, if nothing else he'll be a boost for ticket sales. There are a lot of UF fans living in Jacksonville who would love to see him on the field again.

I personally don't have an issue with Tebow. I'm sure he and I would have some disagreements on certain religious/social views, but I respect his conviction and he seems like the epitome of selflessness.
