OT: Tigers vs White Sox Cinco De Mayo
Another picture perfect day for Beisbol in the Motor City
Dirks back in Left
Max muy bueno in the first
Here is hoping that today is a blue eyed max day! Based on the 1st, it just might be.
That is the best minute of his career.
That unprofessional fuckhead isn't fit to carry Ernie's microphone.
"Hawk Harrelson calls Peralta Walk off" is a bit of a misnomer
Go look at YouTube. The description ends with "or doesn't."
The PBP guy is comparing Prince Fielder's struggles to Albert Pujols, and is wondering why Prince has struggled so much.
Prince is hitting .280 with a .750 OPS. Hardly 2011 Adam Dunn numbers.
Pujols is hitting .194 with a .505 OPS.
I'm drunk yet. McCarver is verbally what Madden is visually on the telestrator, mildly coherent gibberish.
Scherzer is dealing today, great to see.
Although he was born in California, I believe former Tiger Hank Aguirre's parents were from the state of Jalisco in Mexico.
From a Tiger perspective, last inning was a good indicator that sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Not a hard hit ball among those 4 hits that produced 2 runs
2-0 Tigers after 2
A great accidental kick save by Max but dammit don't throw the ball away
He seemed to have plenty of time...gonna have to put in a lot of PFP this week.
OK! verlander-esque in the move to first!!
Take it easy
Come on Papa Grande. Close this one out.
Valverde is terrible. He has blown 4-5 games already.
Too early to pull Valverde out of the closer spot, but he needs to right the ship quickly.
Maybe a little voice in his head reminded him that his eyelids were not part of the strike zone. *shrug*
Right. Because no good or great baseball team has ever lost a game before.
Not at all.
You need a hug. Or you need a better understanding of baseball.
Maybe you just need both.
Last night I said I could hold off on the discussion of what is wrong in TigerTown, but what happened to this offense? I just don't get how we can have a starter turn in such a good game and only give him 2 runs. Are we the mariners now?
No, we are still the Tigers. You can jump off the bandwagon if you want, some of us will still be here to welcome you back.
I honestly feel like some of you guys don't understand the high's and low's of a 162 game season. I agree the Tigers aren't living up to expectations or their payroll right now, but after every single loss people bitch to no end. SACK UP, this team will play better, because too be honest I'm not sure they could be playing any worse right now (knocks on wood.) Last year this team was 12-17, and didn't look remotely good doing it. R-E-L-A-X
He was just pointing out the obvious, that you stupid.
They're what, 1.5 - 2 games back in the division? It's the beginning of May. Yes they're underachieving, but they're not "sucking".
This is baseball. There's still around 140 games left to play.
maybe we should just stick with the guy who pitched relatively 'lights out' the inning before. I think Valverde is a good/very good closer but Benoit was probably just getting warmed up after one inning. I'm sure this goes against what is right in 'Biesbol' doctrine, but it seems a guy can pitch two innings and still be a closer.
Having a designated closer is the biggest joke in baseball. Unless you have a guy like Rivera or Hoffman, that really is lights out, just have closer by committee. It will save money because you won't be overspending for a guy that is going to pitch 50 innings, and if a guy is struggling it's not a big deal to replace him. Most closers have a good run for 2-3 seasons and then start blowing more saves and are relegated back to regular relief duty anyways. Investing in a closer is not worth it IMO.
The Marlins and Heath Bell agree. However, a lot of GM's and skippers don't.
