"On February 23, 2021, at approximately 7:12 AM,  LASD responded to a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Ranchos Palos Verdes," officials say.

"The vehicle was traveling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, at Blackhorse Road, when it crashed. The vehicle sustained major damage."

"The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick 'Tiger' Woods," officials confirmed.

"Mr. Woods was extricated from the wreck with the 'jaws of life' by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries."

Unclear what caused the accident. Cops are investigating.

Seeing how far his car travelled he was obviously driving at a high rate of speed. First thing that came to mind for me was either DUI or maybe he’s on pain killers from his back surgery and over did them.  But it would be hard to believe this bad of an accident happened from something like he was just texting

Great.  So it appears that he probably fell asleep, swerved through oncoming lanes (whether any traffic was oncoming is not knowable), and went off the side.  The only other explanation is that he was spending too much time looking at his phone and didn't realize he was driving off the far side of the road.  I find that ... not believable.

undoubtedly they will pull his blood and do some testing.  regardless, i hope he's not hurt badly but with the comment below about operating on multiple leg injuries, it sounds like bad ju-ju.

paging mgoblogger guthrie, a DA in LA county.  maybe he can shed some light on what happened.

His ex wife wasn't chasing him with a golf club again was she?

But really, hopefully he's alright. He's been down this road before with prescriptions and driving I'm pretty sure.

I have a dollar that says he gets legal proceedings for DUI (either drugs or alcohol).  Fucking idiot.

The only way I lose that dollar is if someone finds a 3-wood in the tailgate area...

I lose my dollar!  Go figure - baseless speculation was wrong on all accounts!  Apparently, he was driving excessively fast for whatever reason.  Some rumors say he was mad at someone, others says he drove off in a huff and almost hit the tournament manager, still others say he was mad for some reason and probably driving extremely fast.

In any case, I'm glad he wasn't impaired from drugs/alcohol (which wouldn't have been a new thing for him), and I'm glad nobody else was injured.  But my initial statement stands - he's a fucking idiot.  Mistakes happen - everyone makes them.  But repeating crippling 'mistakes' like this crosses into carelessness.  If your careless behind the wheel then fuck off, idiot.

All you can say is "I lose a dollar."? And you "stand" by by your statement of him being a "fucking idiot." Unbelievable.

How about: YOU are the fucking idiot. You falsely accuse him of driving drunk and you're gonna double down on your stupidity by insulting him on even more rumors rather than admitting you were WRONG?

Furthermore, you still don't know SHIT about the accident. Yet you put out more allegations. "Apparently" this and "rumor" that. Just more uninformed slander. And nowhere do you apologize or admit fault.

You are a first class POS.

This could actually be the answer. I was listening to a guy who used to work in Vegas and it was known all around that Tiger is a terrible tipper.

That said, I hope he is okay. Oddly similar to Ben Hogan's crash where he sustained some bad injuries. Hogan actually came back to win multiple majors after that. Of course I don't think he was as old as Tiger is now.

But I think we can agree, Tiger was Tiger's own downfall from the peak.  His appetite for escorts and whores was self inflicted, kudos that he did climb back and win another major.

Iron Mike and Lance were their own downfall as well, but MJ, Magic, Jeter, etc.... they exhausted their dominance, no one stays in their prime forever.

I live a couple of miles from there.  Given where the car is positioned, it seems pretty likely he was heading downhill and crossed over into the opposite lanes of traffic.  It doesn't come across in that picture but the area where the car came to rest is going up a pretty steep embankment. It would be hard to get in that position if the car was traveling in the correct lanes when it went off the road.

If that's the case, he's lucky to be alive.  It's a steep hill and he would have been heading downhill (if my speculation is correct).  At 7 a.m., there's a decent amount of traffic headed uphill.  Lucky he didn't kill himself or others.

As for cause, it's best to wait.  For all we know, he was up all night and got in a car at 7 in the morning and fell asleep at the wheel.

Wish him a speedy recovery. Just from the outside he seems to be in a better mental state of mind recently compared to when he was dominating the tour. Having you own kids who are growing up and looking up to you will do that. Hope to see him on the tour again. The last time we saw him playing golf on TV was with his kid a few months back.
