OT: Thoughts on the game "Borderlands"

Submitted by Crime Reporter on
As a reward for getting employment, I wanted to buy a video game. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Borderlands for 360, but I wanted to hear from anyone else that owns it. Thoughts? Edit: For those wondering, I was hired as a freelance writer for the larger of the two newspapers in town. They pay well, and I'm already busy in my first week.

Man, I just went to Game stop and picked up Fable II and Gears of War for like 30 bucks used. I'd go with buying some used games instead of a new one, and you can get literally 3 for the price of one.

Abso-fucking-lutely. I don't really play video games on PS3 much anymore (at least lately) as I am back in school, but $60 for most games is too much. The only games worth shelling out that kind of money for are GTA 4 and NCAA football each year (skipped this year though). Used and depreciated in price is the way to go.

Been playing on the PC all day, very enjoyable game, I have not tried the co-op yet but everyone is raving about it. But honestly I am having a riot just single player...

My roommate bought this game for our PS3 and has played single-player along with a ton of co-op and absolutely loves it. He's very well-versed in the video game realm so when he says a game is good, I usually take it as some form of gospel.

I heard the Co-op was amazing, I haven't gotten around to it. Single player is alright. But I get the feeling it isn't meant to be a single player game at all. Co-op seems like it would be fun as hell. I guess if you want single player post-apocalyptic FPS's get fallout 3. If you have friends to play with on Live, get Borderlands (or both.)

Anyone ever try Gamefly? I pay about $25 a month and I can have 3 games out at once. You can also usually get new games a day or 2 after they are released if you only have that in your queue and an available rental. This way you can get games that you want to try but not buy. Also if you really like it you can buy it at a big discount usually a week or 2 after you get the game. Much cheaper than buying new games.

Online Co-Op and single player are basically the same thing, just with more people. It's a lot of fun to play with people you know and the more people you play with the bigger the bosses are and higher the level they are. A lot of fun to play either way. I'd say you should get it, or wait until Modern warfare 2 comes out in a few weeks.

I really like the game; single player and co-op. I'm not a good judge of whether you should spend the $60 on it though since I get all of my games for free. But try renting it and if you like it enough then buy it. Edit: It has a similar feel as Fallout 3, except more comical and stylized graphics which I really like.

for free games. Did any of you guys see the controversy around the new CoD game? Apparently, in the opening chapter, your character has infiltrated a terrorist group, and you get put in a situation where you partcipate in a very realistic terrorist attack on a European airport. You're gunning civilians down as they try to run, and people are screaming and dragging themselves around on the blood smeared floor. I still will consider buying the game eventually, but this aspect is tasteless trash in my opinion. I'm sure the MSM will get a hold of this story soon enough.
