The NHL is fucked up. In other sports the ball is still live if it is within time as it leaves your hand. In the NHL sure as shit no. Makes no sense.

So in the NBA when a guy shoots a half court buzzer beater it has to go through the net before the buzzer?? No... because that would be fucking retarded.
The duration of a shot in basketball is limited by gravity—you can only keep it in the air so long. On the other hand, a puck can leave a stick continue for a much longer time than any possible NBA shot.
