That is a lot for Wilson. Im going to go ahead and say that is -far- too much for him. Broncos are really banking everything on a Matthew Stafford moment. Still think they may be the 3rd or 4th worst team in their division.

That is an insane amount to give up for a 33 yr old QB.

Denver is clearly trying to be this season's version of the Rams but I don't think it's going to end the same way

As a Hawks, and Lions, fan....Im surprised with the haul.  Hearing Drew Lock is like A LOT by the Hawks...but why hasnt he been playing over Teddy?

Other than that, I think the picks and players are surprisingly good.

9th pick for the Hawks is super interesting, dollars to donuts Pete trades down.

This is a great trade for the Broncos. They are getting a top 3 QB. He is 33 but this is an era where QBs play at an elite level until 40 now regularly. 8 seasons of elite QB play for this is a steal. Especially with their roster built to win now.

If you're going to trade Russ, it makes sense to sell high, and that's a damn good haul. Of course, Schneider and Pete love to throw away late first-round picks, so they could still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think Wilson can put the broncos back in the playoffs but I'm not sure this puts them in the same arena as the Chiefs, Bills or new AFC champ Bengals. Denver sports media has said for the past 2-3 years the Broncos were only a QB away from SB contention. Guess we'll find out.

The Broncos were one of those teams that were a QB away from being truly competitive last year.  They have a solid to good offensive line, a loaded receiving corps, solid running back room, and a great defense.

However, even with Russell Wilson, they are going to have a difficult road to the playoffs.  Every team in that division is dangerous.  The Raiders are competitive, the Chargers are a young team that is getting better every season, and the Chiefs are still the Chiefs.  Right now I'd say this move puts them solidly in 3rd in the division, possibly as high as 2nd if Wilson comes out firing like Stafford did for the Rams.

2nd in the division would likely get them into the playoffs.  3rd?  That's very tough.  A 3rd place team has made the playoffs before but I wouldn't be confident in my chances if I was in that situation.

For now, the Broncos and Russ are clearly in a better situation than they were yesterday.  How much better?  All we can do is wait for the season to find out.

5 draft picks (two first rounders) and 3 players (one of which is Noah Fant)...quite the steep price.

Then again, it worked fairly well for Denver last time they traded for an aging star QB. Maybe it will work again. And Denver feels like a team that has been held back significantly by subpar QB play ever since Manning retired. They'll look like a completely different team with Wilson leading them. I don't know if it will be enough to win it all, but I think it at least gets them in the playoffs and in the conversation.

Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers resign with the Packers.  They’re saying four years for $200 million. I’m guessing he will not have to keep clipping coupons for the grocery store.

The NFL media's plans for the offseason were a ton of Aaron Rodgers and Russel Wilson talk and now both of those get taken off the table in the same day in early March.

As a Chiefs fan, I despise the Broncs most in our division and have loved seeing them lose the past several years. The SB loss where they got blown out by Wilson & the Seahawks was one of the best non-Chiefs SB's I've ever seen.

This instantly makes them 2-legit-2-quit in the Division. The OL still cut-blocks like the old Elway era, and Wilson's legs will be more important than his arm. The window is probably 3 years now, but getting out of the AFC West will be truly brutal during that time.

The Broncos needed a top-flight QB to be relevant, the defense is good and they have weapons on offense for Wilson. They paid a lot, but it was a seller's market.

Before the trade, they had 11 picks in this draft. They'll still have 9, so they need to draft wisely. Losing Noah Fant is a blow, and Shelby Harris is underrated. The Broncos have some cap space for free agents. This was the right move. Hopefully, Nataniel Hacket will be a good HC.

Denver has used 11 starting QBs since Manning retired. They need this.

What's Seattle doing? Carroll is one of the oldest head coaches in the league, does he have the patience to go through a rebuild?

I'm watching from the outside, but it seems like the NFC West is still up for the taking in the near future. Yes LA is coming off the Super Bowl, but they mortgaged the future for it and are going to feel the hit of the lost picks soon. Arizona is currently fighting with their franchise QB over money, and despite nearly winning the division weren't all that impressive to begin with (they lost to the Lions this season after all). San Francisco is going to be breaking in a new QB.

Seattle didn't feel all that far behind them, at least not to the point where hitting reset was necessary. But maybe the offer from Denver was too good not to take, no matter how good Wilson is.

This should be no surprise.  The Broncos are up for sale, and securing a highly regarded QB like Wilson should only enhance the sales price.

Not sure if Wilson is what he was 5-7 years ago, but he’s a clear upgrade over what Denver currently has, as long as he’s healthy.

The AFC West just turned into that much more of a bloodbath, and Vegas is looking like the odd man out for the next few years.

When I was a little kid, my little sister and I got a $10/week allowance. I would sell her 50 cents worth of my Halloween candy for $3.

The Denver Broncos remind me of my sister.
