I think Scott Brooks isn't a very good coach. His scheme doesn't do OKC any favor in terms of what happens when they stop Durant or Westbrook.  His insistence on playing Perkins big minutes when he's clearly their worst player on the roster is puzzling.

OKC can use an upgrade in head coach if they want to take into the next step.

Durant is out for the year and Westbrook misses half the season and they miss the playoffs by 2 games - in the west!  Fired?

Wow, at least give him next year to make his case.

I admire them for this. The question isn't "is the team good," it's "could they be better." People have said for years that he's relying on the players' raw talent, instead of turning them into the smart, ball-moving team that they could be. If they have someone in mind who can do it better, this could be a brave, smart decision. Otherwise....

While there were still merely rumblings about the possibility of Brooks being let go, Ollie was quick to throw a statement out there saying that he had no plans to go anywhere and that he was looking foward to this coming season at UConn. Now that Brooks is officially out, of course, who really knows - a lot of coaches put out a lot of statements, particularly if their name gets floated for other positions.

I think the fact that the reaction to this is that OKC made some mistake firing one of the worst coaches in the NBA shows that few people actually watch the NBA. If they get an actual coach, they should be co-favorites for the title.

Injury has been a huge component of it.

But anyone who has paid attention on a day-to-day basis knows of the many questionable personnel decisions made, and how horrible the Thunder are in last-shot type situations. It became a running joke around here because it seems like  "take a highly contested 3" was the go-to play at the end. For a team that has two of the best  players in the world, they should be much better in those moments.

Not to mention that their defense is laughably awful...as in, nonexistent.

they are super pumped that Brooks is gone. They thought he's a terrible coach who have no idea on how to leverage Durant and Westbrook into his advantage on offense even though their offense has been really good mainly because of those two players.

Have you watched OKC play? Brooks is an awful coach who does his team no favors. When was the last time anyone said Oh, that was a really nice adjustment by Scott Brooks. Try never. Playing Perkins aka "The Walking, Talking Illegal Screen" real NBA minutes is bad enough but that team runs no offensive sets and they are a below average defensive team if Ibaka isn't on the floor. They have been winning on talent alone. OKC can do better, should do better and because Sam Presti is one of the better GMs in the NBA they probably will do better.
