OT: Scott Brooks fired after 7 seasons with OKC
Just sayin
Won't be OT when they promote McGary to Player/Coach
7 years of that method of coaching
It's pretty impressive that Trent Baalke can be the GM of an NFL team and an NBA team at the same time.
The time management skills must be off the charts.
Kudos to him for his consistency.
Damn the double post!
Man, depending on who they hire, this might be a horrible decision.
I think Scott Brooks isn't a very good coach. His scheme doesn't do OKC any favor in terms of what happens when they stop Durant or Westbrook. His insistence on playing Perkins big minutes when he's clearly their worst player on the roster is puzzling.
OKC can use an upgrade in head coach if they want to take into the next step.
Perkins is on the Cavs' roster. But yes, in the past he played too much.
that he's on the Cavs. My point was he played him way too much when he's on the OKC roster.
Your tense needs some work.
/grammar nazi
They must have a good coach ready then...
Otherwise this is an incredibly stupid decision.
Thibs
Hearing OKC wants Billy Donovan or Kevin Ollie... and if they can't get either one, they might wait to see if Bulls/Thibs self-destructs.

Why Donovan? I don't see what NBA connections he has besides playing one season back in the 1980s. That would be a strange hire.
"Pass twice and shoot" might work there.
Per cbssports:
All signs point to University of Florida coach Billy Donovan, a longtime friend of Thunder GM Sam Presti who is itching to move to the pros, league sources told CBSSports.com on Wednesday.
Yeah, I'd like a new Mercedes, but it ain't happening. Thibs isn't going anywhere.
Sources? The Bulls are gelling, and I believe they're going to go deep into the postseason.
Deep into the playoffs? Oh that's rich.....
They will go exactly one more round StephenR - one. My Cavs will dispose of them in 6 games IMO.
See you guys next week!
Other way around...Bulls in 6.
Ha- I'm a Bulls fan if you couldn't tell. In all honesty, though, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Chicago and Cleveland went 7 hard-fought games.
unfortunately - if they can get past my C's.
Err...

anyone else notice the lotion and tissues in the background?
So you have a pretty keen eye for the kinky stuff, huh NFG?
To be fair, I'm on my phone. If I weren't, maybe (maybe) I would've noticed too.
It's generally thought in NBA media circles that Thibs is gone no matter what happens to the Bulls this year, with most people pointing toward Orlando as the probable destination (Simmons and Zach Lowe, also the article below).

Durant is out for the year and Westbrook misses half the season and they miss the playoffs by 2 games - in the west! Fired?
Wow, at least give him next year to make his case.
This was next year. They wanted to fire him last year.
now would be the time to put his name in for consideration for the job.
Donovan?
But Cal would lose his biggest advantage. All the players in the NBA get paid.
Just like Kentucky

The Ncaa is sanctioning Kentucky?

About time. This firing was longgg overdue.
Agreed. Shoud have fired him last year.
I admire them for this. The question isn't "is the team good," it's "could they be better." People have said for years that he's relying on the players' raw talent, instead of turning them into the smart, ball-moving team that they could be. If they have someone in mind who can do it better, this could be a brave, smart decision. Otherwise....
something like this happens, the answer is almost always Phil Jackson.
Kevin Ollie is a great candidate for the job, he was the assistant under Scott Brooks before joining the Huskies.

Kevin Ollie's job if he wants it. He's supposedly tight with KD and Russ.

While there were still merely rumblings about the possibility of Brooks being let go, Ollie was quick to throw a statement out there saying that he had no plans to go anywhere and that he was looking foward to this coming season at UConn. Now that Brooks is officially out, of course, who really knows - a lot of coaches put out a lot of statements, particularly if their name gets floated for other positions.
I think the fact that the reaction to this is that OKC made some mistake firing one of the worst coaches in the NBA shows that few people actually watch the NBA. If they get an actual coach, they should be co-favorites for the title.
Right. It's not so much about this season but how a team with 2 of the top 5 or so players in the NBA haven't accomplished more in the past several seasons.
Injury has been a huge component of it.
But anyone who has paid attention on a day-to-day basis knows of the many questionable personnel decisions made, and how horrible the Thunder are in last-shot type situations. It became a running joke around here because it seems like "take a highly contested 3" was the go-to play at the end. For a team that has two of the best players in the world, they should be much better in those moments.
Not to mention that their defense is laughably awful...as in, nonexistent.
I haven't seen one OKC fan upset by this. Most are either excited or unsure/wait and see depending on who they hire.
they are super pumped that Brooks is gone. They thought he's a terrible coach who have no idea on how to leverage Durant and Westbrook into his advantage on offense even though their offense has been really good mainly because of those two players.
They've been favorites to win the title under Brooks and he's an excellent coach I think your NBA IQ is off

He is not an excellent coach. He is basically the anti-Beilein when it comes to Xs and Os.
Have you watched OKC play? Brooks is an awful coach who does his team no favors. When was the last time anyone said Oh, that was a really nice adjustment by Scott Brooks. Try never. Playing Perkins aka "The Walking, Talking Illegal Screen" real NBA minutes is bad enough but that team runs no offensive sets and they are a below average defensive team if Ibaka isn't on the floor. They have been winning on talent alone. OKC can do better, should do better and because Sam Presti is one of the better GMs in the NBA they probably will do better.
I could see if you said he was an OK coach, but "excellent"? You are waaaaay off. He's quite terrible IMO.
They've been contenders because of Westbrook & Durant
