OT: Rich Hill with a total gem in the World Series

Submitted by BostonWolverine on October 27th, 2018 at 10:33 PM

I don't know how many people are watching, but former Wolverine (and Boston native) Rich Hill just gave a performance for the ages.

6 1/3 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 7 K against the most-dangerous lineup in the game. What an outing. This is turning into a great series.

I honestly didn’t realize that Rich Hill was a UM guy.  Given that (as a Red Sox fan) I’m glad that he turned in a good performance and that it was the bullpen that let the Sox back in it.  That being said, Go Sox!

Bring back the same guy that couldn't get the job done with an open checkbook and who let's the minor league systems rot???

Illitch gave him every possible resource to try and buy a championship and Dombrowski failed.

I'll pass on DD thanks.

Dombrowski inherited a wealth of talent in Boston.  And the White Sox called him asking if he wanted Sale.  Incidentally, Sale did nothing in the playoffs.

And whether or not Avila knows his head from his ass, he's got no budget to work with.

Boston couldn't touch Hill's curve ball all night long.  Idiotic to take him out there and turn it over to a tired bullpen.  Yet another case of overmanaging a game.

Wonder whether BostonWolverine ever knew about either Don Larsen's performance for the Yankees against the Dodgers in game five of the World Series on October 8, 1956 or Roy Halladay's performance for the Phillies against the Reds in the first game of the National League Division Series on October 6, 2010 -- and some other perfect games in MLB history.

Roberts’ rationale for pulling Hill doesn’t fly.  Leaders inspire subordinates; they don’t look for hair trigger reasons to make sea changes, especially when the alternatives are suspect.  Great game, Hill.  RIP, Dodgers.

Had only thrown 91 pitches; horrible decision to take him out. Waaaay over managing. You needed that game; you leave the guy who is pitching a gem in.
