The greatest QB in Lions franchise history playing his first playoff game in Detroit against the Lions has to be one of the most Lions things ever.

Can't wait.

Stafford never had the offensive line, nor the amount of weapons, nor the coaching staff that Goff has.

It's telling that Stafford went elsewhere and won a Super Bowl in year 1. The amount of Lions fans that still think Stafford was the problem is truly incredible.

By this same logic used against Stafford, Barry Sanders must be the most overrated player of all time.

Stafford is the equivalent of what Drew Bledsoe and New England would have been without Tom Brady. Great arm, no leadership.

Barry was the GOAT, but a RB doesn’t lead the team.  Barry also won two division titles and a playoff game. Stafford won nothing here.

How is Stafford doing now. Locker room problems?

Are you Stafford’s mom? Edit: Had do ask given your level of support: “Greatest ever Lion’s QB” SMH.

You started this conversation claiming Stafford is the greatest Detroit quarterback ever. He never took the team anywhere.  He never won anything.  Your claim is an insult to the Detroit quarterbacks that did win something. It’s an insult to the Lions. It’s an insult to all the great quarterbacks around the NFL that did win something.  Don’t you think that this is an indictment of all the teams, and and indictment of the NFL as an institution.  Well, you can say what you want to, but we are not just going sit here and let you bad mouth the United States of America!

Let’s not be childish. The only question is why do you have these blinders on?  He was controversial in Detroit for years.  I know that, and I don’t even live in Detroit.

And sure he won a SB in LA.  Injured last year so that doesn’t count.  But he is surrounded by a great staff, team, and huge payroll.  This year he has regressed to his old self.  And locker room issues.

Stafford had Megatron, Reggie bush, Jahvid Best, Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, Nate Burleson, ect ……plenty of offensive weapons throughout his tenure and for the most part he never did much with it….though I’d say that falls more on the coaching or lack thereof over his time in detroit.

That is the reasonable approach to the situation. Stafford always had great affection for the Detroit area and made that clear. He wasn't able to display his full talent because he did not have the necessary surrounding talent.  I am amazed at the hatred so many have for him. I was hoping the Rams wouldn't play here. It will be embarrassing if the crowd shows unreasoning hatred for him. It would reflect poorly on the quality of people here.

The *game* should be great.

Get ready to hit your mute button though, because the talking heads are ALREADY not shutting up about some “revenge” BS

absolutely blows my mind that, but for the absolutely indefensible call against dallas last week, the lions would be the #1 seed in the NFC.

just home from the game.  every time our #70 came into the game the ref would take the time to hit the mic button and say, not once but twice, '#70 for detroit has reported in as an eligible receiver', and every time he did, the stadium would go nuts.

What a great storyline!

I've been thinking for a couple of weeks that if this game happens, it will be the Monday Night Football playoff game.  I still think that, but who knows.
