Woooooo!!!!! Ties the record!!

Maybe not quite as impressive as the older streaks, but I don't think it'll get an asterisk in the record books. Still pretty impressive that the last few wins have been had with our backup goalies. Pretty cool. Now we need to somehow get this type of play on the road.

If you mean because the Wings won games in OT, overtime was around in the 1929-30 season when the Bruins had 20 in a row (10 minute OT period, not sudden death, final score at the end of OT was the deciding factor). When Philly did it there wasn't an overtime, but for both teams there was a significant advantage by only having a limited number of teams to play (and general lack of widely disbursed talent).

10 teams total in 1929, 18 in 1975. I think that makes it about a wash.

some people are factoring in the talent being more equally distrubuted across than league now, than it was before. With the exception of a couple of teams in each conference nearly every team is above .500, at the moment. So while the Wings have won some games in shootouts and OT, and I think like you said the competitive balance in today's NHL somewhat offsets that, when comparing it to those two teams streaks.

Regardless, it still is amazing streak in today's NHL. They still need to up their play on the road  to certian degree, if they want to win the Cup.

I think less teams makes it harder, you're playing the same teams multiple times. You probably run into some of the best teams a few times. With a talent disparity between teams that means the best are even better compared to the rest of the league. I guess it comes down to someone's personal opinion if a streak means more if it's against some really good teams and some really bad teams, or a bunch of more average teams.

Joey Mac flubbed one, but was otherwise pretty darn solid. I think the Wings have their backup guy.  Game-winning tic-tac-toe was really awesome.  Two PPG also nice to see.  When the Wings are moving the puck tape to tape they are an exceptionally dangerous team.
