OT: Questions/Survey of Big Ten(12) vs the south
I've been sitting here watching college football live on ESPN and listening to the thoughts of everyone on the Ohio St/Miami and Penn St/Alabama games. Everyones seems to be picking Ohio State and Alabama to win their respective games. This led me into thoughts of who would I rather see win those games and I ask the MGoBlog community the same question. Do you root for the Big Ten regardless of who is playing or do you stick to your guns about who you truely dislike? Myself living in the south surrounded by SEC fans I hear all the time that "The Big Ten is garbage" which is mostly based on Ohio State's implosion on the national championship/BCS stage of recent years, especially against the SEC. Personally I pull for the Big Ten every chance I get but I won't lie by saying that I wouldn't be happy if Ohio State loses a big out of conference game. I'm pulling for Penn State to beat Alabama but my dislike for Ohio State has me wanting them to lose this game for my own personal sanity. What does the MGoBlog community have to say about this? Do you pull against your rivals no matter what or do you support your conference?

for the Big Ten always except for OSU, I hope they lose every game every year.

Agreed. Last year's OSU/USC game or when Texas won in Columbus when Vince Young was there were ideal results. As heart wrenching as possible...

Ok now I don't feel like I'm a bad fan because I'm rooting against the Big Ten when I want Ohio State to lose every game they ever play for the rest of eternity. It's almost like I want the entire first and second string to get massive diarrhea every Saturday so that they cannot play and we're left with a community college equivalent Ohio State team out there.

I hope Ohio State gets blown out because Kirk Herbie said even if they lose to Miami that they'll still be in the national championship game and I want them as far away from that game as possible. Other then TUOS I always pull for the rest of the Big Ten.

I hope to heck PSU is down this year, but would like not to see them trounced by AL. And I have come to dislike Terrelle Pryor more than OSU, if possible, but would just like OSU-Miami to be a comedy of errors, with somebody eking but not earning a win.

I dont mind PSU winning to much. I don't see them winning in AL, but i want them to look decent for the Big ten sake, However tOSU can lose, Lose big, Lose Small, Lose wide, Lose Tall… and i agree with a poster above, i am starting to hate TP… i cant pin point exactly what it is.

They believe we are all too stupid to live and Michigan will never win more than 3 games a year again. I used to like Penn State. I now root against Penn State always.

I support every member of the Big 10 out of conference...except MSU. I want Sparty to lose at everything. If the university is negotiating its cable service, I want them to get screwed and end up with 100 channels of "Real Housewives" at triple the normal rate.

just kidding. sort of. maybe it's just because I work with data every day, but why not actually POLL people with a surveymonkey? I'm sure you'd get a lot of responses from mgousers.
That said, I don't know that I can bring myself to root for PSU. Maybe a decade ago before they became absolutely insufferable, but now? Meh...
I don't HOPE osu beats Miami (YTM), but I do EXPECT them to. I don't think "da U" (really? c'mon, so lame) is very good, frankly. osu should stifle them and the offense should do well enough to win by 10-14.

If the Big Ten teams win, good for our conference.
If our rivals lose, too bad for them.
Only one game matters at this time of year, and that game gives us a double benefit.
Michigan wins and hated rival loses.

Normally I'd be all for OSU bashing, but I'm getting sick and tired of everyone knocking the Big Ten for being unable to win big games. The 09 bowl season helped out a lot, but it would make a real statement if OSU wipes the floor with Miami and PSU manages to take down Alabama. Besides, it makes us look much better when we beat them.

I actually root against Big Ten teams quite often, but in recent years I have started to get tired of all the shit from the SEC, etc.
I NEVER, EVER root for OSU or MSU. I want them to lose them all by 30 and get rid of their football programs for lack of revenue.
They way I have always seen it, however, is that if Michigan wins 11 or 12 games things will take care of themselves. Even with all the shit over the past 10 years, an undefeated BT team will go to the national title and a 1 loss team is almost certainly guaranteed a BCS bowl. Any fewer wins than that and the bowls are mostly decided by conference finish.
