OT: Oregon names freshman Marcus Mariota the starter at QB over Bryan Bennett
Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota will be named Oregon's starter in a surprise over third-year starter Bryan Bennett. Bennett was the primary backup to Darron Thomas, who shocked many in the program when he turned pro after his junior season, and has three full seasons in coach Chip Kelly's offense.

P.S. (PREEMPTIVE STRIKE): Many of us are tired of hearing a handful of you constantly bitch about OT threads (you know who you are). Kindly do us all a favor and remove the sand from your vaginal canal before posting in this thread. Ty.

Lol at that move taken straight out of the RCMB playbook.

You mean they have jackasses over there too who do nothing but post criticisms of different forum topics?

I'm okay with the complaint about those who neg OT threads, but can we say it without the misogynistic language?
August 24th, 2012 at 4:12 PM ^
I could care less about the negging, but the bitching has been getting way out of hand. And to answer your question, yes, it is indeed possible to not use misogynistic language.

It has gotten out of hand. Hopefully with the start of the football season some of it will stop.

Well do we really need to post every single article that is on the front page of ESPN.com? If we want that information, we can go to .... ESPN.com. That is why people neg posts like this.
August 24th, 2012 at 4:31 PM ^
Access to the article is secondary. These topics get posted here because some of us prefer to engage in conversation about these stories with other MGB posters than the clowns who typically post over on ESPN or, in this case, Yahoo.
August 24th, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
but I've yet to see a single word about the story. Nonetheless, I think you've accomplished what you set out to do.

I agree they are clowns over at ESPN. BUT this is a Michigan sports blog, and it's frustrating when the board gets filled up w/ OT posts like this and the actually relevant posts get pushed off the main page. We haven't played Oregon in years, don't play them this year, and whoopty doo they have a freshman starting at QB over a Soph.

If you COULD care less, then why don't you?

I just got off the beach and haven't had time to shower. Lay off.

It wasn't that long ago when Lloyd surprised everyone the first game of the season and named true freshman Chade Henne as the starting QB over Matt Guttierrez and Clayton Richard. We went to the Rose Bowl that year. I hope Oregon has less fortune than us.
August 24th, 2012 at 4:23 PM ^
Guttierrez was injured, so they subbed in Henne and never looked back. However, Guttierrez was the starter.
August 24th, 2012 at 5:03 PM ^
Very conveniently and non-visibly. That's how you handle starting a true freshman ahead of a hyped redshirt junior. Would have been quite the controversy if Guttierrez hadn't been "hurt."

It's more of an orifice than a canal.
August 24th, 2012 at 5:18 PM ^
uh... no. It's from the latin for "sheath". It's a canal.
August 24th, 2012 at 4:23 PM ^
That's a very poorly written article.

I live in Eugene, and apparently this isn't a surprise.
Despite Bennett looking good last year when filling in for Darren Thomas, Mariota looked good in the Spring Game and Duck fans are in a frenzy over him. They are already saying he will be better than Dennis Dixon. Good luck with that...
Anyway, for what it's worth his name is apprarently pronounced MarioTAH, although I'm sure it will be pronounced incorrectly by everyone in the MSM.

Do you ever go? I live in Portland but have season tix (wife went to U of O). We tailgate near Autzen and watch Michigan games. Always looking for fellow M fans watch the games with.
I agree on the hype surrounding Mariota; it has been off the charts since the spring game.
