Check this out. I hate to say this, but it may be the best marching band halftime show I've ever seen. Amazing. From the Nebraska-Ohio game this past weekend:
Crap! Sorry. Tried to embed, but failed:
Like Cardale Jones on his homework, the OSU band just copied off someone else.
I thought those Cal kids were supposed to be smart.
That is probably the most creative band show I've ever seen... not that I'm an expert, but that's pretty cool.
This must be fellate-Ohio-State day on Mgoblog.
I came in here ready to give the typical "Who gives a shit about Ohio's halftime show", but that was actually pretty awesome.
They probably used a GameShark on that show. Cheaters.
Wow, Zelda. Wow
So they do have a skill or two that doesn't involve driving trucks.
Wish I could say that our band is just as cool but I've never actually heard them properly because I couldn't hear shit sitting in the student section for 4 years. They sounded like they were playing at Pioneer.
This tangential vitriol gets upvoted while posts critical of OSU are derided as Flamebait. That does not speak well of this board's psychological health.
Herm must not see this thread. I'm afraid he would never recover.
That was great.
That was pretty cool. Can we post something making fun of Ohio now? I feel dirty.
Unfortunately, this is a big reason why they are referred to as the best damn band in the land.
The quest for the big ten grail!!!!
I believe this one earned the title of "best halftime ever" on the main page and rave reviews on the MGoBoard:
M Fanfare beat me to the punch. Nothing to see here...
Ohio's halftime show wasn't terribly original but it was impressively well executed. It was better than Cal's show, for what it's worth. And I think video game shows are just a good idea in general as they have a lot of memorable tunes that really strike an emotionally resonant chord.
Movie shows are similar in that respect actually. Familiar content in a new context. The Oz show is fantastic, but imho spent too much time on in between songs reinacting bits of the movie. The songs are memorable enough on their own... though the script Ohio was a nice educational moment I suppose.
Whether it was the 'best ever' is a question I don't have enough data to answer, but it sure was good. Nice work band.
Damned fine execution. There was no quesiton in what any of those formations were, and they used so many!
Was where I had no choice, but to concede... that was pretty amazing.
I feel dirty.
Very impressive show....those kids really did a good job. Lots of complex formations.
Kudos to all the marching bands that add a ton of enjoyment to college football.
But no Madden love?
An acquaintance on Facebook because he posted this. I didnt watch it but it does look cool.
Yeah, it's good. But the most distinctly Ohio part of it is not the quality of the show, but their obsession with M.
The M flag on the castle says it all. During a game against Nebraska, no less -- what, to any reasonable person, does M have to do with this game? Once again the serf-minded fools of Ohio reveal that we, the noble Wolverines, are the source of their identity. We give them purpose, for they are unable to define themselves in any meaningful way except as "contra Michigan." We are their sole reason for existence; they exist to be our villains. So, while the show is impressive, it is also quite pathetic.
What else would OSU use to represent Bowser? It's highly appropriate.
Dude, did you even see the Michigan halftimes posted on this thread? Taking shots at OSU and MSU all over the place (hilarious, too!). OSU is hardly alone in this.
You have a point, and I will concede that the reactive mentality is increasingly contaminating the noble spirit of Michigan, as with modern society as a whole in this age of Kali Yuga. I still hold that the essence of Ohio is merely a response to the domination imposed upon them by Michigan, from the very earliest days to the present. This was just one example.
Michigan, on the other hand, is noble in essence, by which I mean it is self-asserting, self-empowering, and generally resistant to the influence of external stimuli. This state of power is typically perceived by the weak as "aloof" or "arrogant" -- a common sentiment issued by Sparties and Bucknuts alike. Yet those who deride us as such reveal only their lowness.
Are you, like, a knight? Or what's the deal?
You had me at "Yeah, it's good. But".....
hate the school and the bad by extension, but there's no denying that halftime performance was cool.
I was a dork in a military style marching band in High school, so obviously I'm biased...
But I was there in person, and was in awe of the complexity of the show. I was hoping for more out of the HALO section, but it was impressive throughout.
It was the only time I've ever seen people start to flood to the bathroom and halftime, and then turn around to watch the rest of the show...
Props to the bank and the director...
to practice their kicking:
