OT: Offseason Doldrums, What do you do

Submitted by Ricky from Sunnyvale on

I wound up in a Woodson(hallowed be his name) youtube wormhole and it was fun to see Grbac throw right at him as a rookie. I would of advised against, but I was 14 at the time. So when you get bored; youidk dial up some Denard, Brady, Walker, Roundtree, Perry, Edwards Killfest(comes with a free Spartan helmet), Tai Streets or Forcier ND or IU. Maybe a certain game idk, I watched the Illinois game of endless scoring the other day for no reason. Although I did follow it up with the Drew Henson OSU game, nice little night on the couch(ssshh don't tell her) I do believe the title on The Blade front page was Mich(again & again). GO BLUE.

it's been weird for me the last few years. the last 8-10 years have made it were it makes me sad going back and watching games and stuff from the 90's. that decade spoiled me. especially living in Ohio.

I rarely watch that stuff anymore...it just doesn't feel right when you're not any good.

I've also found myself not caring as much about the national landscape of college football over the summer. When Michigan was good I'd buy a couple preview magazines and I'd follow everything that was going on. I could name my own personal Preseason All-American Team if I wanted and be pretty accurate. Now? I really don't crank up until those countdown videos come around in the fall.

Sad to say it, but just last week I completely recreated the 2008 Michigan team on NCAA 14 and have been playing the next few seasons as the team that could have been. The Brandon Minor, Carlos Brown, Kevin Grady running back trio sure were a success those first few years.

I don't want to dredge up too many bad memories but from my limited experience as Rich Rodriguez's  virtual offensive coordinator while sitting on my couch and drinking a beer; Carson Butler sure could have been better utilized as a hybrid Tight End!!

I stay up too late. I have got nothing in my brain. I go on way too many dates. But I can't make them stay, at least that's what people say. Can't stop, won't stop moving. It's like I got this music in my mind, saying it's gonna be alright. Because the players gonna play, and the haters gonna hate, I'm just gonna shake it off.

I log in to this site and read the dumbest shit and get sad about how horrible the commentors have become and how some people blindly follow some dipshit faux recruiting analyst who thinks he knows something, but he truly knows equal to or less than literally anyone else about the stuff.

I also like to jog.

Tour de France is my go to crutch for this time of year. Goes all through July, meaning it takes you pretty much from end of NHL/NBA playoffs to when fall camp starts and news from that starts trickling out.

Oh, there's plenty to do around here in the OT season - I work on maybe one day having completely viable vegetable gardens rather than the constant experimentation that is making my wife question my sanity, not to mention reading, catching up on TV shows and movies, running, biking, occasionally stealing away for a few days here and there to recharge and also watch my neighbors celebrate the 4th from mid-June to late August.

I also seem to moderate a blog.

Play with my kids.   Advance my career.   Take care of my lawn.   Enjoy the sunshine.   Golf.  Do nice things for my wife.   Fire up the Weber.    Help plan the 4th of July parade.

I know - I'm a nut.   These doldroms are a bitch.

Offseason schmoffseason.  First off it only started about 11:30 last night as far as I'm concerned.  Second....it's summer in Michigan.  Time to go out and enjoy a life that doesn't revolve around football.  I feel sorry for anyone who calls these the doldrums.

......except on Mondays, my golf league tees off at 4pm, so I need to get there by 3 so I can hit balls and have a beer.  At 2pm I start thinking about leaving at 3 and having a beer, so really I'm working a half day every Monday.

Work on the yard, garden, general home improvement stuff, and lots of trips up north. I love the offseason, just not what goes on on this here site during that time.

Get outdoors people. We're becoming a zombie nation, and it's terribly sad and depressing.
