OT: NFL Coaching Rankings (story as told by USA Today) - Spoiler: Jim Caldwell is 25th
USA Today put together a list of the top coaches in the NFL.
Normally, I don't give much thought to these type of faux ranking lists, but I found it interesting to see where the Lions' Jim Caldwell ranked.
He is not much higher than several first-year head coaches, sitting at 25th.
Curious as to your take on the job Jim has done, and where you feel he should be ranked out of 32 NFL head coaches.
Also, this GIF is magical:
Thoughts?

- that GIF tells it all. We get down on Hoke for the 10-man on the field thing...but that at least is college.
Inexcusable and/or fireable offense when your NFL head coach can't figure that out either.
no, this gif tells it all

Kind of sad when you wish you had Marty Mornhinweg again...
What idiot is wishing we had Marty Mornhinweg again? Dude went 5-27!!
I get that Caldwell isn't a guy a ton of people love, but he has the best winning percentage of any Lions coach since the 1930s (Not counting Moeller's 1/2 season)
I have as much faith that Caldwell gets the Lions to the next level as CJ does.
Link to list?
the bottom of the OP my friend, but here ya go!

shocked about Rex Ryan, and even more shocked about Bowles...
"Known as a defensive guru" and yet went into Buffalo and took the elite defense Jim Schwartz had and turned them into an average unit. He made the AFC championship game in 2009 and 2010 and hasn't made the playoffs since but people still think he's some great coach.
Hue jackson is above Marvin Lewis. Not sure how that works, exactly. I do think Hue may be the best coach the Browns have had since 99, and if Haslam will just let things work themselves out for a while, I think Hue can be successful. But above Marvin? Under whom he was the OC last year? The guy who has 10x the head coaching experience? Makes no sense
Stoicism somtimes can be a benefit, but Caldwell is way too stoic for my liking. That GIF is how he looks for about 95% of games.

...the same reason Vince Lombardi and Wayne Fontes aren't
(and yes, I know about the Rutgerz thingy)
When I talk to Cleveland fans, who most people feel a lot of pity for...THEY give ME their condolences when I say I am a Lions fan. LOL
Nice.
Next time, engage them in a game of "Do you remember that time when...." and try to confine it to positive memories of the last ten years or so. As a Lions fan, all I can say is that if both parties are candid with themselves, this game should not take terribly long.
Whoa. What in the world? I guess everyone has to be ranked somewhere, but some of these are really off.
Kelly at 11 is a joke. While I recognize there's a tie to GM there, that has to be included.
Bowles at 15 is way too high. I like him, but no way he has shown anything yet as a HC.
Rex Ryan at 16 is insanely high. Overrated as usual, continually living off his antics and his name rather than recent success.
Jeff Fisher at 22. LOL. Hasn't been above .500 since 2009. Would rather have Gase, McAdoo or Pederson than him.

Bill Belichick is #1 so I can verify that that list is accurate.
What if Jim Harbaugh were a coach in the NFL, where would he be ranked!?
Just had a thought: where do you think Jim Harbaugh would rank if he was still in the NFL?
