OT- NBA Draft Open Thread

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

Front paged, starts at 7:30 pm, pre-coverage at 7 pm.  The Please Darius make the 1st Round Draft...or the Pistons don't draft someone who sucks in 3 years (insert your own favorite team if it fits).

Darrius Morris goes earlier than predicted, Jimmer Fredette goes a little later, and the Pistons take a foreign big with a post game, or a 3pt shooter. Or they trade the 8th pick for Tony Parker or 2 picks and a big.

like it either, but fans keep saying "we need a true point" and he is, plus he's a 3 time All Star who is currently at his age/game peak with multiple Championship experience. If we get him cheap during a bad draft with the 8 pick (if who we want is already gone) then trade him for someone we want to a team that needs a point but can't get a good one then we've done really well. Ask yourself: who from Dallas or LA or Portland would we want before ruling out a move that includes Parker.

that working out but I'd hate it if they field a team with Parker, Stuckey, Gordon, and WIll Bynum and no true center.

I don't see a great move for the Pistons here.  I think the trade down for two picks would provide more options.  Jeremy Tyler is a project and risk but could be a value pick at 23

I hate small lineups. I think Joe ultimately pushes for more bigs. At times last year our PG was 6'8" McGrady and our SG was 6'11" Austin Daye and I was sooooo happy. If there were a way to get Parker and move him for PF Kevin Love I would drop dead from delight on the spot. Don Shane wouldn't even have to finish reading his name, I'd die 6 times before I hit the floor.

You could trade down for 14 and 23 and get say Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson, or you could trade #8 for Parker and get a PG who is a borderline Top-5 player at his position.  That's a disaster to you?  I'm going to be pissed if he had an opportunity to trade for T-Park and did not pull the trigger.

Memo was injured most of the year and when he was playing he wasn't getting that much playing time.  That achilles injury from the playoffs the year before killed him.  Just not what he used to be.  Ideally I think Utah would like to move him but probably not likely to happen.

A lot of people want Jimmer.  At first I did not want them to draft him at 12, didn't think he was worth it. But he has been blowing up during work outs and some people see him in the top 10.  Best part about Jazz getting him would be that he would help fill seats.  Something we need after trading D-Will.

like Chauncey. He moves like him too. He's boring out there, but he's very smooth. He slows you down and then explodes for 2 steps to create space. If he doesn't need to be the leading scorer then his play will change, his distribution is the only thing that needs to get better.

the Pistons can either stay at 8 and get to get a defensive big or take the trade from Houston get that defensive big with the 14th and then the 23rd I would take Darius Morris  we need a true point guard and a guy that can pass the ball to Stuckey ,Ben Gordon, Greg Monroe and Darius Morris fits that mold.

Valenciunus? Something like that. I know he might miss next year, but so might the entire NBA. He's a legit center prospect who loves getting down and dirty in the post, and would compliment Monroe nicely on offense and defense. Biyombo would be an interesting pick as well, another nice compliment for Monroe, although not quite as nice of a fit. Just don't pick Kemba or trade the pick in order to dump salary.

Sadly because there are a lot of stupid contracts out there (see Joe Johnson making 18 million next year and all the way up to 24.8 million in 2015/2016 season).

Teams think that to keep their best player they need to overpay him as if he is the top player in the league or be at the cap. Hopefully the lockout fixes these stupid contracts.
