(If he's not forced out first)
But not before signing Darrell Hazzell to an 8 year, 24 million dollar extension. (I made that up).

Seriously though, Morgan Burke was a key figure in upgrading the basketball/football facilities at Purdue, hopefully the next guy can get someone like Joe Tiller who can at least make it 4-5 games into the season pretending to be a good team.

Might put them in a bind when it comes to Hazzell.  If they are bad, as we all expect they will be, it may be tough to sign up a good coach.  Coaches like to know who their AD will be.  Knowing that a new guy will be in charge before your team takes the field for the first time, who may not feel any loyalty to the new coach, might further limit the number of coaches willing to take the Purdue job.

I am going to guess that those aren't serious suggestions.  I don't see any signs that they have any collective experience as athletic administrators.  Just being a famous NFL player doesn't make you qualified to run a college athletic department.

Edit: Read a Purdue blog (they exist, who knew?) and those names are the search committee.  A far cry from possible frontrunners.

Burke did a good job early in his tenure.  Joe Tiller was, for a ~8 year stretch there, a transcedent-type hire.  But these #s, sourced from the link below, are Burke's legacy:

In 2005: PU had 33% more athletics revenue vs. Indiana (their chief rival).

In 2014: PU had 16% LESS athletics revenue vs. Indiana.

As for Burke getting credit for upgrading facilities: it was simply insane that it took until 2015 (!!!) to get rid of those awful south end zone bleachers at Ross-Aid.  I get it, it's college, stadiums will have many bench seats.  But those bleachers were something different --- they truly felt like something from West Lafayette High School.

The word on the virtual street (take it for what it is worth, which isn't much sometimes) is that one of the many more interesting candidates that Purdue may look at Purdue alum Rod Woodson among others (although that sounded a lot more like a pipe dream insertion on someone's part), but the early frontrunner is apparently Xavier's current AD Greg Christopher. Of course, considering all that exists is a list here and there, it's all speculation. I think Burke has been in that role nearly 25 years, which is forever given how ADs all over seem to come and go now.

I hate to be so negative, but Purdue probably brings the least to the table in terms of the Big Ten in terms of sports...they're good at basketball every once and a while but you can always count on them to lose early in the tournament. That's about it. At least Rutgers and Maryland bring us Croots.
