This fight is five years too late, it'll be Mayweather in a quick one now.
in the ring and out. I agree with you. He strategically waited for Pacman to pass his prime before fighting.
I think Mayweather is older than Pacquiao.
People enter and pass their primes at different ages.
Mayweather is older, but I think the general point is that handspeed and strength don't age as well as defence and gameplan
Prime is not a definition of age, but boxing ability. Some would argue Pacman has passed his boxing prime. However, I would love nothing more than for Pacquiao to knock Floyd smooth out on the carpet.
Gotcha.
Agree, it'd be nice to see the match end in a decisive manner, one way or the other.
Mayweather may be older on the calendar, but Pacquiao is far older in the ring. Pacquiao has been in a number of ring wars--the type that thrill us fight fans, but age a fighter. You only get so many miles on your ring tires, and poor Pacquiao's are worn down to the belt.
Mayweather, on the other hand, has been--as others have noted above--calculating both within and without the ring. Considering the number of fights he's had, he has plenty of ring life left. Most have been defensive exhibitions where he was rarely touched.
I think people think that because of the two losses he suffered a couple years ago. The Bradley "loss" was a universally recognized robbery. Pac did everything but dribble Bradley's head off the canvas. And the Marquez KO, although brutel, was not an unlikely outcome as Marquez for whatever reason has always fought Pac tough and rocked him in every fight they had. Pac has looked dominate in every fight before and after.
If Maywether thinks he will have a cake walk he is in for a surprise. I have Pac winning by knockout and it could happen within the first four rounds.
That KO was in their 3rd fight. He had spent more time in the ring with Manny than anyone other than Freddie Roach. Marquez spent years waiting for, and finally getting, that specific opening to score the KO.
And that Bradley "decision" was the worst I've ever seen, bar none.
It was actually the 4th fight with Marquez and Marquez has a legitimate claim that he won all 4 fights. Personally I think he won the 3rd and the 4th, lost the 2nd, and drew the 1st.
And what defines Marquez's fighting style that has given Pacquaio so mch trouble? He's a counter puncher. Who's the best counter puncher of this generation? Floyd Mayweather.
Marquez is different type of counter puncher. He is a counter puncher that stays in the pocket. Mayweather rolls and counters or pulls back and counters. If you smother Mayweather and rough him up, you cause him problems. Pac has the footwork, speed, style and punching power to cause Mayweather some serious problems.
Mayweather is nearly untouchable when he's smothered. Boxers he's beaten, including Hatton, Guerrero, and Alvarez, cite the raised shoulder they can't get past and the elbows they get hit with when they get close to him. He has the most trouble with punches that loop around his guard, as he was almost demolished by wide punches from a decent distance from Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, and DeMarcus Corley. If Pacquiao tries to smother Mayweather, he'll get all the shoulders and elbows he can eat. Additionally, this is one of the few fights Mayweather's had in which he'll be the naturally bigger man. The place where people underestimate Pacquiao is foot and hand speed. I don't think Mayweather is much faster, from a physical standpoint; I think he's a faster thinker, though, and that's what'll carry him in this one, I'd say.
Mayweather by decision...
Money in a controversial decision over Manny setting up an even bigger Money v Manny II. Because this is boxing, the most corrupt sport out there, and it is all about the $$$. That said I hope Manny knocks Mayweather out, but this isn't 5 years ago.
I don't know if it will be quick. I think 10 rounds minimum. Mayweather doesn't get to guys fast enough to knock them out much sooner. I know it was a while ago so not fully analagous but look at the difference in how both men handled ricky hatton
I miss the days when the combined weight of these two fighters (290 lbs) was basically one of the guys in the ring (George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, etc.).
Floyd hasn't knocked anyone out in 4 years. This will go the distance.
I think Floyd wins, but I still would not be surprised if he loses a crappy decision to setup a bazillion dollar rematch.
Mayweather in a unanimous decision. 5 years ago Pacquiao would have knocked out Floyd

please....he'd end both of them by touching gloves before the bell was rung.
but I would love to see his face hit the canvass, and for all the women and children he's abused with domestic violence to rejoice in the aftermath. Just desserts
No he wouldn't have. The last guy Pacquiao knocked out was Cotto 6 years ago and that was a late 12th round tko vs a guy that's known for his suspect chin and lack of defense. What makes you think he would have knocked Floyd out?
Money will probably win via points, but I hate thinking that asshole will probably retire undefeated that I'm hoping Pacman gets a surprise knockout.
he can be beat...
He got beat by Vanilla Ice?
Who do I have? The promoters. They're the real winners here.

take home almost $200 mil each (before taxes). The real winner is uncle sam, doesn't lift a finger and will make bank.
That's uncle sam all the time.
Huh, I thought Uncle S provided a lot of the roads, infrastructure, public safety officers, etc, to make this event possible in the first place. But I guess not; guess he's just an evil menace sitting in a dark room cackling with glee.

And, of course, water. Las Vegas is a forgotten ghost town without Federally subsidized water. Some little project called the Hoover Dam and the largest reservoir in the US.
Ding ding ding we have a winner. Id love to see what would happen if tomorrow they stopped collecting taxes and shut the whole government down. From DC down to the municipal. I'm guessing the people who whine about Uncle Sam wouldn't like it very much. None of us would.
Oops, no politics unless it's related to American Sniper. Sorry, I forgot.

I appreciate Uncle Sam subsidizing this wifi I'm using right now. So I don't get priced gouged.
and priciest wifi in the world.
Mayweather doesn't operate by that model, he's his own promoter. He controls everything and even pays his opponents.
Good point. I actually admire Mayweather quite a boy because no one owns a piece of him. Probably why he has so much damn money.

I just don't see Money losing this fight. He'll win in a unanimous decision.
Pacquiao in a split decision
It will be a draw 100%.
I agree with this. Floyd has one more fight on his contract, Manny said he will fight one or two more times. Way too much money in a rematch to not have this happen.
Was there a rematch clause in the contract?
is going to make that POS eat his own teeth. Manny by knock-out in the 6th.
If it goes to the cards, Manny will probably get robbed again, despite landing 1,500 punches.
I don't think he's knocked anyone out in a long time.
But he will tomorrow. The universe owes it to all the women with missing teeth thanks to Mayweather.
One or the other will win in a controversial decision setting up a rematch between to past their prime fighters. It's boxing after all.
I'll take Mayweather. I don't particularly care for him, but I think he's a better boxer than Manny.
so I know that the world isn't fair.
Unanimous decision for the woman-beating illiterate.
is how Michael Buffer should introduce him.
And in this corner, weighing in at 151 lbs, from the fighting city of Grand Rapids Michigan, the woman-beating illiterate, Flooooooooooooyd Maaaaaaaaayweather.
now you can't prove that.
