Two clear choices for me…

Two clear choices for me. China Gate and Westside BBQ. The kung pao chicken lunch special was incredible, and competition style ribs that stacked up with ribs from all the major bbq cities from across the country. It’s a shame neither of them are open anymore.

Ricewood is great. I miss Westside BBQ in Ann Arbor. They used to put out some amazing ribs. Loved their dirty rice too.

I struggled to find good BBQ…

I struggled to find good BBQ in MN for a while. I finally just found my spot a couple weeks ago. Big Bore BBQ. It's a ways out of the city in Hanover, but totally worth the drive. I can't wait to go back. My ribs were phenomenal.

Depending on what you’re…

Depending on what you’re feeling, my recs are below.

Steak - Mannys

Burger and drinks - Parlour Bar

Modern Mexican - Colita

Brewery - Pryes (great pizzas too)

Italian - Bar La Grassa

Other places to consider are 1029 Bar for a lobster roll, Matt’s bar if you want to try an OG Jucy Lucy, and The Market at Malcom Yards is a great spot too with a lot of variety.

Edit: forgot one of my favorites. Young Joni. The back bar at Young Joni is a cool speakeasy too.

My top 5 probably goes…

My top 5 probably goes something like this.

1) Isleworth Country Club

2) Harbour Town

3) Arcadia Bluffs

4) Tobacco Road

5) True North

Some Honorable Mentions: Signature course at Treetops, Cedar River at Shanty Creek, and in a couple weeks I imagine I will be adding The Quarry at Giants Ridge to this list. For the price, northern MI golf will always be my favorite place to play. Exceptionally high quality golf courses for the price. Plus, is there truly a better place to be than on a golf course in northern MI in the middle of summer?

This ^^^. Spicy chicken…

This ^^^. Spicy chicken sandwich from Popeyes is fire ???

I’ve always tried to love…

I’ve always tried to love CFA, but I just don’t get the hype. And the CFA sauce everybody always raves about kinda makes me want to gag every time I catch a whiff of it, and that says a lot because I pretty much love all food and sauces. Popeyes is far superior. Their chicken sandwiches (spicy) are hands down the best fast food chicken sandwich. I do love Raising Canes too, I just can’t rank them above Popeyes because they only have tenders.. they need to add some variety to their menu for me to want to go there more.

Shake Shack takes the burger debate for me. The shake stack burger is next level. Five Guys is a close second for me. Five Guys cajun fries are the best fries in the business, and burgers always taste great.

It’s time to give Urban a call. Fuck it. Our only chance to be relevant again. This was an embarrassing loss.

Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! in Chicago…

Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! in Chicago is my personal favorite. They have so many different small plates that are absolutely divine.

1. Grateful Dead

2. Jam - Dead and Phish would be all I really need to live for the rest of time.

Relatively young and new to the bourbon game. First bourbon I had that really made me start diving into bourbon more was Blantons. It’s nearly impossible for me to find in MN, so I’ve since discovered New Riff Single Barrel bourbon and I think it’s phenomenal. I prefer it over Blantons. The best $50 or less bourbon I’ve found so far.

I have 3 that I still miss…

I have 3 that I still miss whenever I think about them.

1. China Gate

2. Westside BBQ

3. Quickie Burger

China Gate lunch specials were some of my favorite moments in college. Always took buddies there in between classes to taste Chef Jan’s Kung Pao Chicken.

Westside BBQ was the best BBQ I’ve tasted to this day outside of Kansas City. I would eat a rack of ribs there every day if I could.

Lastly, I’ll never forget all of the late night $5 pitchers and burgers after a night out at Quickie Burger. Good times were had in the basement at 3 AM crushing a major cheeseburger drenched in quickie sauce.

You need to take a deep…

You need to take a deep breath and relax. Your irrational anger towards his comment is only serving as supporting evidence for his statement.

As someone who lives in a household with two therapists that help people with severe mental health issues, his comment was mostly fair. I might have phrased it in a different way. Instead of saying “almost all people with parent issues have problems”, I probably would have phrased it as “many people who have mental health issues tend to have parent issues”. Most mental illness is a result of some sort of trauma, and in many instances that trauma is a result of a divided household. Not receiving the love and care to the level they need from both parents is one of the reasons, if not the number one reason, that people form these illnesses.

In the end, I find nothing wrong with the comment that you took offense to. I recommend you not take everything you read on the internet so personally, and understand that he was not attacking adopted people with his comment. Hope you can find some positives on this Sunday to put your energy into and enjoy the day.

Somebody who’s not getting…

Somebody who’s not getting much love in this thread is Brandon Johns. He’s starting to look like he has tons of upside to me. If he keeps getting playing time and the game slows down for him a bit, plus give him another offseason to mature, he could be a force in the college game too. To say the least, I’m getting really excited about next year’s team. Especially now that it’s looking like we’re going to pull in Christopher. There’s going to be so much potential on our roster. The future is looking bright!

Yea that was my thinking as…

Yea that was my thinking as well. Rolling with it. Thanks!

Have to give some local love. A few touring bands from Michigan that released albums in 2019 that I thought were amazing are below. Check them out!

Billy Strings - Home

Greensky Bluegrass - All for Money

Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers - Paper Castle

Vulfpeck - Hill Climber (technically December 2018.. close enough right?)

I also second the votes for Fear Inoculum by TOOL and Sound & Fury by Sturgill Simpson.

Currently have Juju and Golladay, but definitely in a spot where I need some miracles. My two RBs at the start of the year were Saquon and Damien Williams. My team isn’t doing so hot. Just going to stick with it and see what happens. Need Lady Luck to be on my side one of these weeks!

Pick 2!

Wow, thanks for all of this…

Wow, thanks for all of this information. Definitely jotting a lot of this down. And Venice is the one spot I don't have a place to stay booked yet. If you see this, feel free to post a link to the BnB you liked. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the…

Thanks for the recommendation! Definitely plan on eating so much gelato haha. Will make sure to check out Il Latini.

I'm crossing the pond for…

I'm crossing the pond for the first time in my life this summer! Spending about 12 days in Italy. I'll be in Rome, Florence, Venice, and Cinque Terre. So far I have booked a private wine tour of the Tuscany region, and private tours in Rome to see the Vatican and Colosseum.

Any other suggestions out there from those who have spent some time in Italy?

I still find it comical we…

I still find it comical we label “The Spot” as bad luck. I’ve never once seen an angle that showed he was definitively short. We had ample opportunities to win that game in regulation and couldn’t do it. The spot at the end could have went either way, and it didn’t go in our favor. No matter which way it was spotted, the call on the field was going to stand. Fucking go out, be mentally tough, and WIN BIG GAMES! Quit making pathetic excuses.

Student section was pretty…

Student section was pretty packed and was very high energy all night. Thought the whole crowd was great last night! How it should be every game with the team playing at such a high level. We need to cheer this team all the way to a playoff berth.

I'm selling 2 in section 10

Two tickets for sale in section 10 row 36 if interested. I'm just trying to get back face value on them, but willing to let them go for the best offer I get. Email me if you're interested. setshot.1000 at gmail.

I'd also only want 2 if you have 2 available when you get to me.

I second Tobacco Road

Tobacco Road is beautiful. I don't know if I'd put it in my top 5, but it's close. Pinehurst #2 is something else. I wish I wasn't so young when I played it. I was only like 12 so I don't think I appreciated it as much as I should have. Definitely want to head back down to that area and play those courses again.

You're such a douchebag

You're such a douchebag.

Halo theme song

I can't stop humming the tune that starts at 39 seconds whenever I start playing Halo.

Other songs that get stuck in my head are most Taylor Swift songs and Drunk in Love by Beyonce. No shame.

If you would have had Nike cleats

You could have scored 3 goals in under 2 minutes if you would have had Nike cleats.

I have a couple

I have a couple of good ones. My favorite has to be from back in little league. It was the championship game, down 1, bases loaded, bottom of the 7th, 2 outs, and full count. I had an uncle who had never made it to one of my games show up, and I told him from the on deck circle that if I got up to the plate I was hitting one out. I made up my mind that I wasn't going to take a walk once the count was 3-2 unless the pitch was unhittable. Got a pitch that was right across the letters on my jersey, and hit a bomb to straight away center field. Walk off grand slam to win the championship. My dad was the coach too so that was awesome to share with him. He was happier than I was.

Honorable mention for me was throwing a no hitter in my first start on Varsity baseball as a sophomore. It was all down hill from there though because I threw out my arm that season from being pitched so much. I was worse as a junior, and even more worse as a senior. My arm feels like it wants to fall off anytime I throw a baseball now. Lastly, it was the league championship at our home course my senior year for Varsity golf. I shot a 40 on my opening 9 (worst I had ever shot on that 9), and came back and shot a 30 on the back 9 by going 6 under in the last 5 holes. Birdied 14, 15, 16, and 17 and eagled 18. Won the tournament by 2!

Golf is mine as well

My dad had a golf club in my hand the day I could walk. I play every day possible. Going through high school when I had all of the time in the world with no worries, I was a scratch golfer. Then college came along and my practice time went down considerably and my handicap got up to about 8. This is my first summer really getting back to it and practicing hard. I plan on getting my handicap back under 5 by the end of the summer. But we'll see. Beer is far too enjoyable most of the time to make it possible for me to shoot that low. Priorities

He hit a ball with a shift on

Victor slapped the ball to the left side to beat the shift. If Davis is on second, KC can't play the shift since they need someone at home on 3rd in case Davis steals. It's impossible to know if Victor would have actually got a hit in that at bat since it would have been a totally different scenario.

Sorry!

Sorry! haha I'm jumping all over this chance to get back to Ann Arbor.

Just accepted a job offer in AA!!

Moved to Omaha, NE for a job after graduation last year, and got an offer this week that  I couldn't refuse for a job that I applied to last Spring at a company in AA. Signed my offer this week, and handed my boss my resignation letter this morning.

Pulling my best HARBAUGH impression! I'm coming hoMe!!

I enjoyed the grind for a while.

I will not admit how many hours of gameplay me and my friends put into that game, but it was more than a lot. When you get to the point where you have every exotic, all of the raid materials, and everything maxed out with hundreds of materials and nothing left to spend them on, there's nothing more to grind to enjoy. Yes, I had a problem haha

Xbox player

I'm on Xbox. But I played destiny a lot for quite a few months, have a maxed out character of each type, and then realized you do the same damn thing over and over again and it's not even fun. Also they aren't coming out with a new raid in the House of Wolves expansion that they scammed everyone into buying along with the first expansion. I will probably never play that game again. It feels more like a chore than fun when I play it. Borderlands, and Halo Masterchief Collection is where it's at for me right now.

If you get a good group to raid with, they can be fun to play for a little while. But once you get all of the raid gear and raid weapons, there's really nothing else to play for in the game and all of the fun disappears. That's what happened for me atleast. But killing Atheon and Crota for the first times was pretty thrilling. Good luck finding some fun people to play with.

Chain of Lakes in Branch County MI

Used to spend most of my time on Marble Lake. But it was always nice to take the pontoon from one end to the other and back. Especially doing it late at night with a boat full of booze and some good friends.

We no longer boat there though. Last year we docked the boat at Wamplers Lake. Closer to home.

Also wanted to say thank you

Watched the whole fight on this stream. Best one I came across by far. +1 to you

The Masters

The Masters is my choice.

Money

I just don't see Money losing this fight. He'll win in a unanimous decision.

Omaha

I'm also in Omaha.

Going to have to go now

I drive by a Smashburger everyday but I have never stopped in to give it a try. Looks like I'm going to have to grab it for dinner tonight if you put it above Five Guys and In-N-Out. As far as what's better between those 2, they're both delicious to me. Might have the give the edge to In-N-Out. It's just a simple and delicious burger for a smaller price than Five Guys.

Another wolverine in Omaha!

Since I moved here, I've only seen 2 people wearing a Michigan shirt.

I never used to mind Nebraska fans growing up in Michigan... then I moved here... We need more representation in these parts. The amount of crazy husker fans is too much to handle at times.

Probably game 7, but I'm going to KC

I would have to say game 7, but unfortunately I can't pull that off. I will be in KC this weekend though for a game or 2. Although, it would be really hard to pass up a trip to Vegas. Vegas is crazy enough on a normal weekend, I can't imagine how much fun it would be this weekend. If I had to rank them, it'd be as follows:

  1. Game 7 in Tampa
  2. Vegas
  3. Tigers in KC
  4. Kentucky Derby
  5. NFL Draft (How is this even in the same convo as the first 4? You would have to pay me to go to the NFL Draft)
