Have you made your decision for Chryst?!?
January 28th, 2015 at 7:32 PM ^
So this is where I say that Charlie Weiss would have been a better pick.
January 28th, 2015 at 7:38 PM ^
Charlie is a good OC. Just not a good head coach.
January 28th, 2015 at 7:43 PM ^
And then he could have been paid by 3 different organizations all in one year!
January 28th, 2015 at 7:41 PM ^
I agree, unless his Kansas buyout disappears if he takes another job. Jabba would be loathe to give up a paid-couch gig. But seriously, he seemed to do well as an NFL OC, probably would have been worth a shot...
January 28th, 2015 at 10:24 PM ^
I think NE was all the head coach/qb. KC was how long and back in college at Florida he didn't really reinvent the wheel.

couldn't happen to a better franchise
January 28th, 2015 at 7:38 PM ^
Hey I get it. Jeeps crash and burn on the road, and Geep will crash and burn on the sideline. That Jed York is so clever.
January 28th, 2015 at 7:41 PM ^
Geep Chryst sounds like a name one of George Lucas' kids would make up.
January 28th, 2015 at 7:43 PM ^
Matt Millen as OC?
January 28th, 2015 at 8:52 PM ^
Nah, Millen is GM material.
January 28th, 2015 at 7:44 PM ^
and I found that it is a "sheep-goat chimera". Apparently his parents named him after a hybrid of two farm animals.
The Niners OC is a Sheep-Goat Chimera.
January 28th, 2015 at 7:45 PM ^
But now isn't.

Damn. That must be horrible for the environment.
January 28th, 2015 at 8:55 PM ^
Nah, don't worry about it. I have a low flow toilet and reuse my grocery bags, so it evens out.
January 28th, 2015 at 10:51 PM ^
Tires are pretty much just oil, anyway. It's not much different than what happens when we burn coal to keep the lights on at mgoblog.com, for example.
January 29th, 2015 at 11:14 AM ^
...an actual tire fire is putting tons of particulate matter into the atmosphere; coal-fired power plants typically have filters and scrubbers installed to reduce such particulates.
MGoBlog's energy mix would also depend on which company they use from SE Mich; DTE is heavy on coal generation, while Consumers has a larger mix of natural gas; both are nearing roughly 10% renewables right now

The Niners wanted to save relocation costs.
Proud to root for the Lions even after 15+ years by the Bay... "restore the roar"!
January 28th, 2015 at 8:05 PM ^
There's no good way for them to spin this.
January 28th, 2015 at 8:09 PM ^
Chryst is the brother of Wisconsin Badgers head coach Paul Chryst and former Mid-American Conference commissioner Rick Chryst. Their father, George, was an assistant at Wisconsin and then became the head coach and athletic director at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
January 28th, 2015 at 9:27 PM ^
....that's a lot of Chrysts running around
January 29th, 2015 at 7:40 AM ^
IT is certainly hard to nail them all down.
January 29th, 2015 at 8:22 AM ^
for my morning laughs. Busted a gut on this.
January 28th, 2015 at 8:14 PM ^
This organization is going...somewhere. Most likely down.

So this is going to end very badly. When it does York isn't going to pull a Gob and admit they've made a huge mistake by "replacing" Tonsula. My guess is when this all goes horribly wrong they fire Baalke after 2 years of pain, so the next GM can replace Tonsula. Too bad the fans can't fire instead.
January 28th, 2015 at 9:48 PM ^
Jed said to "hold him accountable". I am not sure he understands what that might entail.
January 29th, 2015 at 12:23 AM ^
To Harbaugh, being accountable means:
1. Win games
2. Develop strong game plans
3. Coach up players
To Jed, being accountable means:
1. Take low salary
2. Never asks for a raise
3. Run off expensive players
It is a miracle that Harbaugh lasts 4 years under Jed. Jed doesn't want to win; he just want to make money. Sold Out Luxury Boxes + Cheap Coaches + Cheap Players = Profit.
January 28th, 2015 at 10:07 PM ^
Their tears taste great!!
January 28th, 2015 at 10:28 PM ^
Guess who was on the Chargers when Chryst was their OC...
Harbaugh:
January 29th, 2015 at 8:40 AM ^
The York family have turned me into a bandwagon Niners fan with their stupidity in how/who they hire. An organization with the track record of hiring Erickson, Nolan, Singletary and the current guy don't make the games a priority watch and living in zmichigan they'll only make a national broadcast a couple times a year.
Unless the Yorks are trying to build or sellout a new stadium they just want a cheap coach. Thry must believe that the scarlet and gold uniforms win games by themselves because they did for Eddie D.
January 29th, 2015 at 9:21 AM ^
I know, the guy's a tool, but at least he's directing his tooliness in the right direction now (and to be fair, he's chronicled quite well for over a year the 49ers' ownership/front office's efforts to undermine Harbaugh).

Tim Kawakami@timkawakami There's a lot of anxiety among 49ers fans, but I really do think they're putting together a helluva NFL Europe coaching staff.
January 29th, 2015 at 9:44 AM ^
I love the guy.
Now if he'd only take the Ohio State athletic director job.
