AMC is very stingy about running this series over its channel on cable/DirectTV/etc.
If you have not taken the time to watch this series I would put it in the pantheon of television greatness and in the same breath as Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Soprano's, etc.
My Grandfather was an Accounts man in Chicago during the time period of Mad Men and for any of us who are in Sales today as much as out business have changed they have in some ways stayed the same. From the interpersonal character development to the social commentary there are many reasons to enjoy.
Absolutely, Christina Hendricks. She is the best character on the show. Far better than a bunch of misogynistic alcoholic ass holes and one narcissistic misogynistic ass hole.
Honestly it’s Abigail Spencer by a nose over January Jones for me and then Jessica Pare in third. All gorgeous though.
Woman on Plane (Neve Campbell)
Bethany Van Nuys (Anna Camp)
And #1 with no close competition:
Beth Dawes (Alexis Bledel)
January Jones is the only answer. Silver medal for Abigail Spencer. Bronze for Maggie Siff (Rachel Menken).
January Jones seemed as cold as, well, January.
It's pretty hard to go wrong with any permutation of the list.
No love for Trudy? (Alison Brie)
Like minds. :)
No Trudy?
Trudy is the Mad Men Mary Ann. Dancing The Charleston with Pete at Rogers wedding was rather awesome...and then they hit you with Roger in blackface-whoa.
Great show, with some subtle time travel.
In the early seasons I am the same age as the character Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka), Don Draper's daughter. In 1963 when JFK was assassinated, we were both in 1st grade.
Seasons later in the show, when Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969, I was 12 heading for 7th grade. Meanwhile, Sally was now like 15 or 16, in high school and smoking with her friends.
Currently, The Bear is my binge. Season 1 was really dramatic, but definitely engaging to me (and times really funny). I’m stoked to watch Season 2 once my wife catches back up.
series is on Hulu
I'd love to watch it... but damn commercials?
I can honestly say I almost entirely avoid commercials these days.... I generally start sports an hour after and then fast forward through commercials.... only exception are the big Michigan football games
glad to see so many Better Call Saul Fans.... I loved that show
I also loved the Queen's Gambit.... maybe equal to Saul
The joke is it's a show about making commercials....woooosh
shame on me
I am toasted like a Lucky Strike for missing the joke
Without a doubt my all time favorite series, have watched it all the way through many times. Watching the series on Blu-ray right now with commentary.
I'm jealous. Was one of the first shows I ever truly binged. One of those select few shows you'd give anything to be able to go back and watch it again for the first time. Transcendent shit.
NOSTALGIA
This show is actually called “Cheat, drink, smoke”
Today that's "Tinder, drink, vape."
Anyone else watching The Bear? I’m midway through season 2. I’ve seen a lot of commentary about it being the best series. It’s good and original but I wouldn’t put it near the top.
You haven’t hit the best part of the series yet….you’re almost there.
It’s taken over as my ‘Ted Lasso’ fix. I like how both shows can feel so different, yet so similar. They both seem to focus on teaching/learning towards personal growth, and less about their actual subject matter. I love character driven shows where the characters evolve in positive ways.
Any list of best TV series that doesn’t have The Wire on it is patently wrong.
"He'll never golf again."
/greatness.
