Kawakami is a dick, but he's not an enemy.

I don't consider Jed York an enemy, either. Honestly, Harbaugh can be difficult to get along with, and he himself has admitted that. His prickly personality and sometimes abrasive style has been well-documented. But the key is this: at Michigan, he can do and say whatever the f--- he wants because he's among family. And his position in the family is a half-step below that of Vito Corleone. If his tenure goes how we expect it to go, he'll be on par with Vito Corleone (i.e., Bo) or will have surpassed him by the time he leaves. We take Harbaugh for what he is, not what we want him to be, because his deep ties and contributions to this program entitle him to that. In the NFL, coaches are expected to be robots who know their subordinate position in the heirarchy. That's just the nature of the thing. Here, Harbaugh is at the top of the heirarchy and he can be himself and run things however he wants without anyone giving him shit for it.

York comparing Tomsula (who just might be the dumbest person I have ever had the pleasure of watching being interviewed) to Steve Kerr (who might be one of the brighest minds in the NBA) is nothing short of hilarious.

Kerr was a great front office man in the NBA and was widely known to be destined for a HC job at some point. He definetly got fortunate with his situation, but he was also Phil Jacksons hand selected choice to go to Knicks, and would have had a job in another year if he waited. Tomsula is a nobody who has not even made it to coodinator let as well shown any head coach ability.

York and Baalke will take heat from the minute they start the season. They put themselves under the microscope and on notice. As for Kawakami, he was in the dark during the coaching search just like 99% of the others. He was a bit of a dick, but even shefter was wrong. They all misread the tea leaves.

I like Kawakami. He really liked Harbaugh and still does. I'm going to be a dick too when Coach hangs it up or moves on.

Yeah, in hindsight I think he had a hard time believing that Harbaugh would go to Michigan because he loved covering him in the bay area. If he had gone to the Raiders he could have easily stayed on the Harbaugh beat. I mean, this is a guy who, if I recall correctly, said that he would move to Ann Arbor if Harbaugh came to Michigan as one of those "I'm so sure this will never happen that I'll say that I'll do this thing that I won't do" bets. Now that he still writes about Harbaugh from halfway across the country, that bet seems to make a bit more sense even if he didn't follow through on it.

York is the poster child for the entitled rich kid who never had to worry about failing because mommy and daddy were always there with money, jobs, and platitudes to reinforce how special their little snowflake was.

If he would just learn to shut his mouth once in awhile and stop with the self aggrandizing statements he wouldn't come across as such a douchebag.

We all need to take a moment and thank Jed York. Probably send him a nice Christmas card too. His incompetence and unwillingness to work with anyone other than his own "yes man" allowed us to bring Harbaugh back to Michigan. I personally am a big Jed York fan. The guy threw a big winner out of town, but their loss is our gain.

The NFC West is a brutal division, and when the 49ers head back into the basement after several 5-11 to 6-10 seasons, York will realize all too late how much he needed Harbaugh. Of course, he'll be thinking about it as he clears out his desk and gets run out of town.

What would compel York to leave if fans were "sufficiently" angry? An incontrovertible sense of stewardship and/or embarrassment? The truth is that York technically answers to no one. There are no true stockholders or bosses to fire him. He stays until it stops seeming worth it to his feelings machine. And no law of the universe requires that moment to precede York's probably far-off death. Owners answer to no one. The court of public opinion matters only so far as the owner cares about his reputation. Beyond that, the owner is untouchable.
