Automatic one year ban. For all if them. Guaranteed. NCAA is nothing if not equitable. I trust them to hold the SEC to the same standard as our player.

Still stupid. Your gun doesn't have to be loaded. Plus, think of it this way: if he gets stopped by police and they see it, the police don't know if it's loaded and must assume it is. Having it at a strip club , where people tend to drink a lot, is stupid in general. If he was drinking then it's even worse.

Just stop... this tit-for-tat game is not winnable.  Michigan has its share of dickheads whom have tarnished the program from Chris Webber to Justin Feagin to Brandon Gibbons.

...and the other "side" knows of their trangressions too.

I will say the difference between Michigan and anyone else though is Michigan's fanbase is self-policing and while the other guys tend to make excuses.

... and if you're Penn State, you put 409 on your uniforms.

You do realize that countless athletes across the nation "dishonor" their schools by taking money under the table every year, right?

The only thing that separated Webber from the 99% that get away with it is that the FBI - which has subpoena power - got involved.

I'll be especially pissed if the NCAA lets Ole Miss off the hook for doing the same thing the fab 5 did amongst other things. I'm ok the fab 5 punishments handed down on us but wtf if they aren't going to go after places like UNC, Syracuse, and Ole Miss. We also get stretchgate which was a witch-hunt and yet nobody ever goes after these southern schools.

Huh?

You've been around long enough to notice the NCAA punishes the little shit and lets the major infractions slide, right?!

Nothing is going to happen to Ole Miss.

USC got off light for Reggie Bush.

Penn State got off even lighter for the decades of predatory behavior -- should have been kicked out of the Big Ten as an aside!

NCAA acted like Michigan getting 20 more minutes of stretching was a felony.

Don't go down this rabbit hole! I could give a fuck what other schools do. I care about Michigan. Your argument is like your kid saying that s/he should be allowed to do something because all the other kids are doing it too! The context of the post was someone from our side pointing out all the flaws in someone else's program. My response was framed in the context of that theme... that our side isn't exactly squeaky clean either. The taxonomy of the wrongdoing really doesn't fucking matter in that context. Other schools have players which have dishonored their institution just like Michigan has some not so savory characters (unfortunately) too. Your post is disingenuous at best. Webber is a piece of shit regardless if it was a criminal act or not.

Cissoko was kicked off the team 5 months before any of his crazy stuff happened. Appling, Plaxico, Winston, Rucker and whoever else I'm forgetting are all loved by the MSU fanbase and were never punished there.. try again.

That's fine.  But it's naive to assume that Webber and the other three guys named in the Ed Martin scandal are the only Michigan athletes ever to take money under the table.

Again, what separates these guys from everyone else is that they had to testify because the FBI got involved.  The vast majority of the time that doesn't happen.  The NCAA has no subpoena power, so everyone just clams up and there's little they can do to prove wrongdoing.

If Ed Martin had been a guy with a normal job, instead of running an illegal gambling ring that got him wanted by the Feds, nothing would have come of the investigation and Webber would still be beloved by Michigan fans.

I guess you hadn't heard the Athletic Department had pictures of Ed Martin the facilities instructing student-athletes not to associate with that man.  Steve Fisher looking the other way aside, there is no way in heck Chris Webber didn't know about Martin.

Webber took the money anyway.

I'm not talking about anything else.  Martin is a different discussion.

I'm talking about Webber and his willful actions.

Webber's relationship with Martin went back to when he was in middle school, and Martin was recruiting him to attend Detroit Southwestern.  His situation is much more ambiguous than that of Traylor/Taylor/Bullock.  Actually, it's debatable whether he even violated NCAA rules, because "family friends" are permitted to give gifts if their relationship predates a certain point (freshman year of high school, I believe).

The only problem Jim Harbaugh has had is LTT who he kicked off the team and I can't remember anyone under Beilein besides Mcgary and weed. Dantonio and Izzo have shown that they don't care as long as these guys can win games. Who was that rb that he played for the Michigan game this past season after previously saying he would be suspended for a year?

Justin Feagin.....good lord talk about a blast from the past.

He disappeared off the face of the earth seemingly. I remember wondering why he wasn't starting in 2008 because he had to be better than the slowpokes we had running the read option.

biggest question is, has be recovered from the wrist injury to the extent necessary to use this weapon?

Seriously, Cleeves, Appling, Dawson.  Eventually this will start taking a little bit of shine off of the MSU basketball program.
