For the next week or so.

if he does it with a qb who challenges his ability to make life easy for team and does stupid shit that makes him the center of attetion even while going undefeated for two straight years, yeah, pay this man his money. Anyone who can cope with Jamesis Winston and keep on keeping on, deserves to get paid.
He may not get his team to the promised land, but he's done enough to warrant a bigtime contract. God forbid, we would challenge that.

Couldn't they have waited until after the playoff to see what the market is? Timing seems unnecessary

That's kind of my thought. Only thing I can think of is this deal was in the works prior to the leak about Michigan's money. Otherwise I can't imagine Fisher's agent wouldn't pump the brakes and request more.

Maybe his agent told FSU that Michigan had reached out to him about Fisher?

That's what I want to know.

Fisher won a National Championship last year, is in the playoff and his contract will be for around $5 million. Meanwhile, Harbaugh is going to get $8 million. Michigan and Harbaugh are going to influence the entire pay structure in college football.
Leaders and best...

that harbaugh's successful career in coaching professional football merits that pay over Fisher or even Saban but you are right; Harbaugh's contract (should he accept the Michigan job) will have a ripple effect.

$5.5M?
That's cute.
December 23rd, 2014 at 5:14 PM ^
Only five coaches make $5 million or more per season.
Well, at this point next week, hopefully we're talking about how this is now six coaches and how Fisher is not at the top of this list. One user in the comments section did ask the money question though - "Will Winston be there all eight years?"

"Salary terms were not disclosed because contract details are still being worked out, but a source told ESPN.com's Chris Low that the deal is worth an average of $5.5 million a year."
That means it hasn't been signed yet. I got a real suspicion we'll see Jimbo leaving for the NFL after the season ends.

Waiting on a possible Harbaugh hire at UM to up his asking price. If rumors are true about the offer UM offered to Harbaugh, Jimbo may be wise to wait it out and see what happens. He could make a lot more money..
