OT Idea - Profiles of MgoBloggers

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

The OT season is kind of here, and will be in earnest when the MBB team is done with the NCAA's.  We have some pretty creative, interesting and humorous folks on the board and it occured to me that it might be a good idea during the OT season to have a regular 'MGoBlogger Monday Profile' segment.   I figure we could do a few of you at one time and that I'd start by picking folks using some combination of seniority and points and work my way through as many as reasonably could be done during the off months. I know there were a few profiles done years ago but none for quite a while. and many new characters are here.

So my questions are these:

1.  Good idea or 'meh/pass/stupid'?

2.  If good idea, then what general questions/areas would you want to get into?  No creepy/stalker/perv stuff (I'm looking at a few of you right now...), but what areas to ask about?  Maybe family, job, how became a Michigan fan, hobbies (besides M football, etc), favorite Michigan memory, maybe some wild card questions like 'if you could live any place', or 'have any job' or something along those lines.

Have a great weekend.  Super bowl on Sunday.

2. XtraMelanin

3. MGrowOld

4. MeanJoe

5. Hotel Putingrad (self-nominated)

I'll nominate Don (6) as he's old and doesn't have a lot of time to wait around for the next time these are done. Anyone else? Feedback?

I would be fun to see something like the Six Zero series come back if someone wants to take the lead; my guess is that most of the new people just assume those of us with lots of points are lonely, aloof, basement-dwelling trolls with nothing better to do. But with these profiles, you'd see that some of us are also incredibly narcissistic as well!

Six Zero (or the man behind the MGoUsername) is very active on Twitter but not so much here anymore save for a rare, rae post now and again that I've seen, for those that asked for his whereabouts.

I will agree, however, that this would be a great feature to start again - for those unfamiliar with the process, essentially the person being profiled will get six (perhaps a few more) questions, mostly tailored to their blog presence (so there is pre-work that goes on). You are encouraged to be detailed, although some choose not to be for reasons of privacy, which is fine, or some just like to present their story through the lens of MGoSnark, which is encouraged.

Good idea. I've religiously checked the main page 2-3 times per day since 2007 or so... I created my profile a few years back just to comment about one or two things one day (can't even remember what).... but I hadn't really read any of the board stuff until last summer... and all but literally two or three of my posts came since July or so... when I started reading every post because I was so fired up for the first season of Harbaugh. I'm now just starting to catch some of the personalities and trends of the more frequent posters. I would enjoy a round of the profiles.
