OT: Huzzah! Rose Bowl prime rib eating record held by Michigan lineman

One of our own, Ed Muransky, holds the individual record for amount of prime rib consumed at Lawry's before the Rose bowl (8 pounds in 1978). Plus, I love stories of large men consuming large amounts of food.

In case this isn't common knowledge, Ed went on to become an All-American:

This comes from Ed Muransky's Wikipedia page but is sourced to an old Daily article and some discussion of Bo at RealFootball365, but there is apparently some amusing back story to the event. Namely, what happened afterwards and what Schembechler apparently said regarding it:
Muransky: "The next morning in practice, Bo made an example of Bubba and me. We never ran so much in our lives as we did that day. We were in every play of scrimmage and then we ran sprints."
Muranksy regarding the 1981 Beef Bowl: "Bo made it a point to come to the back of the plane and talk to me and Bubba Paris. He wanted to let us know that my record from a couple years earlier would not be in jeopardy because we were going to be sitting with him at the Lawry's Beef Bowl. He said he was going to limit each of us to two cuts of prime rib."
Schembechler had his own take on the story: "I let 'em eat because they were freshmen. They weren't gonna play anyway."

...that's a record that I'd be proud of. I like prime rib but just thinking about eating eight pounds of it makes me feel like vomiting.

you're not a 300 pound lineman.
(I'm purely guessing here...)

I was at M from 78 - 82. My senior year we got stuck with a roommate that had really wild stories. When he was a freshman, he claimed he lived in South Quad and "kicked Ed's ass". This guy weighed all of 135 lbs. He also claimed he could swim so fast that he could jump out of the water like a dolphin. Not sure what color the sky was in his world...

I will take all of the records the Wolverines can get.
