OT: How intelligent is America?
I don't consider myself to be smartest person in the world, but day in and day out of listening to the stupid things people say I find myself thinking I am smart. I went out last Friday to a bar wearing my Worst State Ever shirt and ONLY ONE PERSON COULD NAME THE STATE ON MY SHIRT!!!!!!! Seriously?!?!?! I live in Pa and Penn State considers Michigan and Ohio State to be their bittter rivals, and they can't even name the state of Ohio. The only person who got it was a girl who graduated from Penn State. This is why America is dumb.
I don't recognize Ohio as part of the Union. Maybe that's what was causing the others to not know which state it was???
especially with the recent focus on statstics...your sample size is a bit small.
is not that important. Not recognizing it on a t-shirt is understandable.
I understand it's not important, but couldn't you name every state if I were to show them to you?
If you had a "Worst State Ever" shirt with a rectangle on it, I could not identify it with certainty without being permitted to measure and check for the proportions of the sides.
That would be kind of funny, though.
I know my geography, but if I saw a shirt with "Worst State Ever" written inside a rectange, I'd most likely just see it as "Worst State Ever" written inside a rectangle, unless I happen to feel very strongly about CO or WY that day.
That's South Dakota.
congrats Bean, your prize is a point.
I knew it from the silhouette on my '2nd worst state ever' tshirt
South Dakota for sure.
Could also pass for Kansas after Missouri did bad things to their....ahem..."Southeast corner" a few too many times.
(the words "flabby nunny" come to mind)
Everyone knows it's the green one with the tail.
I don't know if I could tell Wyoming from Colorado out of context.
Yeah, that would be the only two that are easy to confuse. Colorado is a longer rectangle, but with out being side by side, it would be 50/50.
The easiest way is looking for Yellowstone Lake in the upper left hand corner, but still hard to determine.
The tiny ones, Delaware, Connecticut, New Hampshire always confuse me.
New Hampshire counts as tiny? What about Rhode Island?
...we should commission a "Dumbest State Ever" t-shirt with PA's keystone logo? You'd buy that one, right?
I'll give u NYC and DC but NJ is more important than Philly unless your goal is to get barfed on at a baseball game
I am not from Philly, and actually like NJ (even though I love in NYC) but what city in NJ is even comparable in what it offers to Philly?
I've been to Philly a bunch of times and I think it is an incredibly underrated city. They have Penn which is a top top notch school, awesome restaurants, good sports, Center City is pretty nice to live in, museums, etc and although not comparable to NYC/SF it actually has some interesting industries (not enough). I think the city gets a bad rep because of idiots like that barf dude, but I was extremely impressed by what it offered

Wyoming would have my vote
Are you sure they didn't know? Have you considered the possibility that the general public of Pennsylvania has simply done a magnificent job of blocking the black hole of America out of their conscience to the point of honest denial in a public setting?
1. Think of how dumb the average American seems.
2. Think of all the people bringing down that average even more.
3. Go support Miss South Carolina Teen USA in her quest for maps.
Like such as South Afrikuhhh and the Iraq, right?

sorry, it wouldn't let me get the code to embed the video.
And you all know what school she went to...
People are pretty dumb. A person may be smart, but people are dumb. I know it's a movie, but I find it a frighteningly accurate portrayal...
A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.
IMO this was Will Smith's best movie with a slight edge over Independence Day
I'm partial to Bad Boys II, but this was a good one
Better than 7 pounds and Ali??
7 pounds was terrible, a jellyfish? Really?????
My Vote goes to Independence day just because of Bill Pullman's speech as the president...

Pursuit of Happyness all the way.
It's a loaf of Wonderbread that's been at the bottom of the grocery sack for two days.
And how can I insert an image into the body of a comment? I can't figure it out, which I guess means I'm as dumb as Miss South Carolina and her maps.

Then html away.
... the older you get, the more you realize it. The hard part is remembering that being smarter doesn't mean a goddamn thing. What's meaningful is what you do with your smarts and how you treat others, regardless of their intelligence.
Thanks Dad!
Can't....read...joke.....key. Pixelated......

"Cumulative box office revenue, $million"
In fairness, a bar on a Friday night may not be the ideal location to gauge people's intelligence.
Good point
Yeah but how many people did you talk to?
