There's a semi-reasonable discussion around whether MSU or ND is #2 but to suggest they are ever #4 is silly. The reality is that MSU is pretty much #2. The ND rivalry is a fairly recent invention

The MSU rivalry started in 2010. MSU didn't have a football team before then, just ask their fans.

I'm speaking from a personal perspective.
They were #4 to me in 2006 and 2006 alone because we needed that Jug back against a Minnesota team that was posed 50x more of a challenge than sparty did.
Northwestern put up more of a fight that year than they did.

I started what would many years later become that a year later when I was 12. Began as penned out scores and stats on spiral notebook paper.
Some people just assume kids are stupid and know nothing at all until they hit some magical age where suddenly everything starts counting.

It helped but the continuous threads on it two days later seem kind of excessive.
I hate that people care about what they're doing this much because that gives them legitimacy as a bigger rival than what they really are with all the talking going on about them on here.
