I was gifted I'll Be Gone in the Dark and was planning on starting it this weeked. If Michelle McNamara had any little bit to do with catching this guy I hope she gets the recognition that she is due.

He had to have been a suspect already if they were DNA testing his garbage. I really wonder what made him a prime suspect this many years later.

which can do more with less, so to speak.  I had a case like this back in the early '90's where we knew who are target was, but we were waiting on the DNA testing method to be able to reconstruct from skin cells, IIRC.

and for total numbers, look up the randy kraft case - 64 murders/mutiliations, including two in GR.  we caught him in socal and prosecuted him for his murders there.  horrible, gory stuff.  i believe he and manson and david brown were all housed in the same unit, at least for a while.  quite a trio, those 3.

is taken off the street (or planet) - even if its 40 years after the crimes

Being a police officer probably allowed him to slip in and out of situations without suspicion.

Hope they find the Zodiac next....

Several witnesses described the penis of their attacker as being quite small. This might be best exemplified by a victim’s hymen remaining intact though she had been raped multiple times,

I was a CAL student from 78-82 and most of my fraternity hailed from Sacto. This case was huge then and the threat was always something that their parents constantly reminded us all of.

Fact that he was a cop explains a lot about how the investigation went sideways for so long...maybe!

Well, GS beat the lebron and the cavs in '15 and '17.  1 out of 3 ain't bad, but .333 is a better batting average than winning percentage.
