OT - Funny/Clever MGB Posts

Submitted by Bo248 on August 18th, 2019 at 8:43 AM

I’ve had plenty of laughs reading MGB posts.  Truly some of the funniest stuff ever has been posted here.  (Much of it regarding lame OT posts like this)

It got me thinking, what has been your favorite post or funniest, most clever or most creative post you’ve read (or posted)?

My vote to start things off:

From Googles Paisano - As a kid, I did receive as a Christmas present, a #16 Gary Danielson jersey.  No child should ever have to endure such trauma.

(Thanks all for the engaged levity)

This was outstanding. Perfectly captures the delicate balance between college football season and marital bliss (or even just peace). I may or may not have planned an entire trip to New Zealand with my wife around Michigan's schedule this year. She got wise to my plan when I kept bouncing back and forth between Expedia and the Michigan homepage of ESPN.

Many funny topics and comments but FauxMos description of being out to dinner when Coach Harbaugh came into the same restaurant was pretty funny.  Someone recommended sending a glass of milk over to his table (genius) and then if I recall FauxMos wife ended up teasing him because he was nervous about doing anything.  I could have the details wrong but who cares about details and memory loss when you’ve defined how a memory should be in spite of reality.

It's not particularly clever or funny but as OT season comes to a close and we look back on posts from the last year, one of the more ridiculous ones that stands out in my mind is a guy who said he had watched fall camp from the bridge on stadium and based on his observations we were going to "give Notre Dame the Arabian goggles." He then proceeded to just comment NUTS and TAINT in caps across several threads. And either he was sent to Bolivia or retired there because he hasn't commented at all lately.

MGrowOld had a post awhile back that was one of the funniest things I have ever read. Someone claimed just watching game film would make you the best at footballing and he said something along the lines of “if that’s true, I must be the greatest lover on earth because of the amount of porn I have consumed.”

I can try and find it when I get a moment, because I am not doing it justice at all. If I recall correctly it was one of the most upvoted posts of all time as well.

EDIT: Found it. LINK

The very first "wife day" post in...2010? Is still my favorite funny post in this site. It was a masterpiece.

(Can't post link because the site overrides paste behavior on my phone)

Honorary mention to the day I came home very distraught about Michigan football for some reason and found the site had turned into a pink kitten haven. I laughed and laughed... And then started the strangest ~8 year ride of football watching.

The annual “RIP Keith Jackson” thread, and the hilarity that goes with it.

Second place, “Gravy”

From last night  in the Higdon vs The Lions thread Dirty D says "The Lions should do everyone a favor and quit playing" to which Tom Burke replys..."They are YEARS ahead of you". Gave me a pretty good laugh.

Some thought it went overboard, but I though the Jim McElwain/Florida locker-room scene posted a couple of years ago was hilarious.  I can’t remember who posted it.

He goes “when you say.... love the shark?”

There have been so many funny comments over the years and my memory is not as it once was to recall them but this one in Punt/Counterpunt by Internet Raj in advance of last year's WI game:

"The Michigan fan in me wants to point to Wisconsin’s struggles against Iowa or their inexplicable early-season loss to BYU, who scored so much against the Badgers that their entire roster was suspended for violating the school’s premarital honor code..."

I greatly enjoyed Ty Butterfield's (I think?) post using mental gymnastics with numbers to explain pre tournament how Michigan was going to win the 2013 NCAA basketball title

Oh so close.

I liked Roll Damn Tide/Wolverine in a bag’s whole thing. It was even better when he got caught. That was a pivotal moment for the blog as people became hyper aware of multiple profiles by the same user ever since.

When WD accidentally called the Mods “Moms”

The ridiculously stupid post about Hoke changing the tide and people in Ohio buying M jerseys. For a lot longer than it should have that post made me laugh and wonder about who the commenter was and was he serious or trolling?

who could forget about WD being chided, derided, and berated about his Aunt’s friend’s emails from Dave Brandon and then in what I can only assume is the greatest moment of his life so far, shutting everyone the hell up with the proof and the corresponding university action.

Not since Eric Cartman taught Scott Tenorman a lesson have I seen such a response to teasing.

I came home one random night to find a message board post centered on me with over 100 comments. It was full of entries that made me laugh, it had a few sub threads, people were going to search me out at the next home game.here are few screen shots from it

1) 2008, someone posted in a parody account as a Spartan Bruh who laid out why RichRod was going to be a failure. It looked like it could be a season-long feature. Unfortunately it turned out to be correct and stopped being funny.

2) Anything posted by Mark Mangino.
