OT: FSU RB under investigation for domestic assault, Jimbo buries head
I actually liked Jimbo Fisher at one point, this guy seems to have gone off the deep end or is not "fully aware". Friday he is crying about false reports and how good of kid his RB is. On Monday the police department relases a statement regarding a pending investigation. Below is the gist of it regarding Fisher, can click over for the full story.
On Friday, Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher denied a report by a radio station in Jacksonville, Florida, that Williams would be suspended from the team. At the time, Fisher called it "another false report."
"There's another false report, and that's amazing how things happen," Fisher told reporters. "Whoever has sources, whoever has rumors, needs to check who they are talking to -- because that is about as far from truth as there is."
Fisher also said: "It's funny. That guy, who's a tremendous kid, a tremendous ambassador, I don't even know where that [suspension report] would come from. It kind of caught me off guard like 'Whoa.' Karlos has been wonderful."

than Hoke. And he has stood up for Winston in some pretty feckless ways. But that doesn't mean that his response wasn't sensible. If people were saying that Williams was suspended and the coach hadn't heard word one about it then Fisher's response--rather than having anything to do with a cover-up--could have simply been factual: "I'm his coach. No, that is not the case."
There's enough idiot bullsh*t out there already. We don't have to try and condemn every comment that is made, even by people with waning credibility like Fisher.

is only because Jimbo wins games. If FSU were terrible (e.g. Michigan), most people (not you specifically) would condemn him. Remember the uproar from Hoke saying Haggerup left because of family reasons?

I don't see how his winning has anyting to do with this. He's done a dozen really stupid things in connection with the Winston case, starting with not demanding that the kid grow up. What I'm saying is don't condemn him for what could possibly be only a simple matter of his not knowing the story yet when there are so many idiot things to nail him for. Suggesting that this might be one case where employing Occam's Razor makes sense; perhaps we find out differently, but the OP shows no evidence that we should. . .

Excellent X's and O's, revitalized that program after it had fallen into a rut under Bowden. Hires great assistant coaches.
Jimbo Fisher won't be coaching FSU in 5 years. And it's going to be because he's completely incapable of maintaining discipline and he doesn't have Bobby's old ability to work the media and deflect. Guys like Fisher frankly should never be in charge of college programs. Too much power and they don't think about anything but winning the next game.
I imagine Jimbo will either leave for the NFL when an opportunity arrises or he'll be fired for some horrendous scandal involving horrible things he stuck his head in the sand to avoid.

I mean, wasn't this stuff happening under Bowden as well? FSU has always been one of the dumbest, dirtiest programs around. When they win nobody really cares; when they lose nobody is watching so they take their sanctions and just move on. It's in a talent hotbed and seems to have a pretty lax administration, so once Jimbo is sent packing after one of these snafus really blows up in his face, they'll find someone else who'll come in and do about the same.
I know people keep making analogies to Hoke, but (a) Fisher is a better coach than Hoke on the field, and (b) Hoke doesn't handle situations well but seems to honestly have a moral code; Fisher seems like he doesn't care about what laws his players break as long as they are playing on Saturday.

Why doesn't he just say, "It's like there are all these people targeting my players and this program and I just don't get it." I mean, if you're going to run with this stance, you might as well go all in with it.

Karlos Williams is also being investigated for armed robbery during a weed deal gone bad that occurred during the summer.
