OT: Former Texas A&M Wide Receiver Hacks Man to Death

Submitted by FauxMo on

He has admitted to hacking a man to death - a randomly chosen man, mind you - with a machete. I remember reading about this guy vanishing after A&M beat Bama a few years back, then lea. Clearly he had/has some mental health issues. But wow, this is one of those unreal stories you can't quite believe...

So in the past 24 hours we have had threads on one coach retiring from a team outside our conference, another coach being fired from a team outside our conference, a quarterback from a team outside our conference using PEDs, the mystical numerology of 12, and many other assorted OT things, but a story about a former D1 wide receiver hacking a man to death with a machete is worthless information? I can understand not wanting to be Red Cedar Message Board, where they regularly have posts on TV shows and favorite beers and video games, but if we cannot talk about happenings in D1 football here, what is the point?

Don't let the topic police get you down.  If it makes you feel better, IMO a post about this is newsworthy, and therefore topicworthy on a blog about M-football.

"We are not going to critcize each other, we are going to encourage each other!" The blog, and I must plead guilty myself, would do well to more closely follow Bo's formula for success.

We are all part of something that binds us, and we could better respect that.

That said, questioning about people complaining, even when the questioning is justified, will not turn out well.

the coaching change ones would be pretty high. They may directly affect our recruiting and the possible candidates could include a member of our staff or our rivals. The Florida QB will have an impact on rankings and the race for playoff spots. Perhaps prematurely, those things are relevant to us.

downvoted for title (which is bad) and content (which is also bad)

Edit: title is okay now, content is bad still and so downvote stays.  some things are just fine not being brought to the attention of the board

Saw this story last night. Pretty awful stuff really. Sounds like this guy has some serious issues. It may be interesting to follow this case to find out what drove him to disappear and murder a stranger. Humans really are strange creatures.

Just moved away a year and a half ago.  Sure glad I did--sounds like the A&M player was mad about something and decided to look for a random target to take his frustrations out on.

Stories like this are so horrific that they never seem real.  They are just too outrageous to wrap your mind around.

Seeing pictures from the crime scene, however--seeing it happened on the very path where I jogged most every day of the week--brings the fact of this murder home.  It's an eerie feeling.

It's a fucked up world.

Shit. Can you imagine if it were Ryan Swope (former Texas A&M receiver) who did this crime and if he beat Denard for the cover of NCAA '14?
