OT: Curious verbal of Devon Moreland
Let me make clear I am not knocking his choice but this kid has some major offers. Anyone have any insight on why he'd pick SMU of all teams when hometown USC and UCLA and other big time programs wanted him?
His high school has "Bishop" in it, leading me to wonder if the kid might just be really religious. It's too bad. Tebow already played out the bible verse eye black.
That's what I was thinking. Maybe he's a Methodist...
Methodists are Baptists who can read.
I'm not sure why but I really wish SMU would win. I'm not sure if it stems from their death penalty and wanting to see them climb out of it or what but I have always wanted them to succeed.
As far as the commit goes, the other posters made the most logical sense of it but still pretty mind-boggling. Good for him for doing what he wants.
He just wants to be the best ever and save football at SMU. To play with all those other good players at USC would be a disgusting cop-out. But he's an asshole for leaving his hometown. How could he stab them in the back like that on national TV?
Stop being so envious. We all know you just wish you were a Trojan.
...this while visiting campus:
SMU may have hot women, but USC blows away almost everyone.
From what I have read and heard down here it's due to JIm Jones....guy is pulling interest from a number of big time players.
Yes, Jim Jones....he's forcing prospective recruits to drink the Kool-Aid.
Jim Jones? Their coaches name is June Jones.
who knows why they choose what they do? As I meet high school seniors to discuss their future, I am constantly amazed by the reason they give for their decisions. These are some that I have heard in the past.
1. Felt they fit in there... (ok, qualify that for me.)
2. Friends go there (probably not in the case of Moreland)
3. Beautiful campus (hopefully not in the case of Moreland?)
4. Parents, coach, advisor pushing that school.
5. Thinks he could start there, verses bench time.
6. Academics - harder vs easier.
ok, you get the picture.
They make decisions that bewilder all of us!
Because SMU is paying players again. Ahh, a return to the good old days.
I went to SMU and I can tell you that the religious aspect of the school is miniscule. Of course the Theology students are very serious about their Methodism but most of the students are not. It's not like at Baylor where everyone must go to Chapel or anything like that.
Oh and the women of SMU are UNBELIEVEABLE! Ahh the good old days indeed...
If you think Baylor is religious, go look up BYU's honor code. Hair below the ears equals time out in the corner.
