OT: Copa America - Quarterfinal: USA vs. Ecuador, 9:30pm EDT, FS1

Submitted by Wolverine In Iowa on

USA plays Ecuador tonight in Seattle for a spot in the semifinals.  The winner will face the winner of the Argentina-Venezuela match on Saturday.

USA has found a central defense!  Can we rack up some goals against the talented Ecuadorans?  Who is starting at right back for the USA?

Not a fan of Zardes just yet. Has pace but his finishing quality not there yet. I know, he delivered the cross to Deuce against Paraguay. But he has misconnected so many times. I feel with him in, that position is a bit of a missed opportunity.

He is suspended if the card stands. There is a hope the US could get it rescinded on appeal, because the card happened on an improper restart, as Jones hadn't yet left the field from being sent off. I think it depends on whether the card was given because a tactical foul or for unsporting behavior.

I wish we would pick a classic uni look and stick with it like all the big-name teams do - Brazil, Argentina, etc.

I don't like being the Indiana of international football.

Kinda surprised at the low turnout. Isn't Seattle usually a big soccer city? I though the Sounders like sold everything out all the time

As stated above, they have been charging pretty high prices for every match. And in alot of cases, they're forcing you to buy packages if there's multiple games in the city. Which makes no sense unless you've got the money to burn as you don't even know what the knockout matches will be when you buy the packages. And while this tournament is a big deal for soccer in this country, how many people are going to buy tickets to watch Peru take on Haiti? Or Jamaica-Venezuela, or Panama-Bolivia?

The Sounders "sell out" because they artificially limit the capacity for Sounders games to about 40,000 which is a lot less than the 69,000 capacity of the stadium.  It's still a very high turnout for MLS (most teams don't play in NFL stadiums) and they've increased that capacity limit every year due to ever increasing demand.
