I've been to a few bachelor parties, some all out and some more reserved. Here are the keys to success: - Alcohol in large (check that - very large) quantities - Safe travel is arranged (this is key - not only for safety but so nobody is a "pussy" by not drinking that much) - Strip club is mandatory Other than that, just focus on what the groom wants to do. It will likely be the last time (barring divorce) that he will be able to go crazy with all of his buddies. If the groomsmen don't like it - F them. It's going to be fun regardless if you follow steps 1 through 3 and it's really about giving the groom the sendoff he wants.

that someone negged you for this. Look. Strippers and bachelor parties often go hand in hand. However, saying that it's mandatory is absolutely absurd. It's not uncommon to have your father or even your father in law at your event. I don't need to see my dad's face between some stripper's breasts, nor do I need to have my father in law present when I'm getting a lap dance. There are many ways to have a bachelor party. Don't be so arrogant as to think that your way is the right way.

Eh...it's probably more due to who I am than what I said. There are a few people who neg me pretty much every chance they get. But yeah, that's kind of my point. My brother is going to get married soon, and I have no desire to see some stripper rubbing up on him. I've seen dads at bachelor parties, too. It's fine for a bunch of 25-year-olds or something, but there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed.

Strippers are soooo....well, they actually never have been cool. Seriously, what's the allure? Some bimbo so hard up for caysh she'll take her clothes off for four sets of drunk idiots every Friday night? I especially love the guys who think they "have a chance" with these broads. That's almost worth going to the parties or contributing to the stripper fund itself. And yeah, the Dad thing--ewwwwwwww

I'm 23 and I have yet to go to a strip club, and I have no intention of ever doing so. There is nothing appealing to me about a 19 year old baby-momma that probably has herpes grinding on me, all while a bunch of fat, drunk, middle aged men stare and drool.

Don't be such a buzzkill. Strip clubs are not always THAT bad. A few in Chicago are pretty classy (relative term). I went to one with my girlfriend (a private school educated and gainfully financial-industry employed woman) and some friends. We had a great time. Plus watching her get a lap dance from 2 HOT chicks while I got one too was pretty awesome.

I'm sorry that you're too high class for strippers Magnus. It's OK, I used to think that way before I found a few good joints that didn't rip you off / or sexually frustrate you to no end. That being said, YOU LEAVE THE OLD MEN BEHIND before you go to the strip club. No strip club before midnight - that's a sin in some states. I would never go to a "club" with my pops - just too weird. The older brother thing - well I guess that depends on your relationship with your brother (not on a "good" or "bad" basis, just what you guys like to do together).

A friend of mine goes to "Christmas in July" every year, and says it is a great time. Just don't get arrested.

Milwaukee was awesome. You can probably drive there, there are tons of bars, there are some major league sports, lots of rivers and waterfront, a casino or two, and a great little dive of a strip club called Art's Performance Center. Did I mention there are tons of bars? Oh, and, lots of bars. I puked in my buddy's front yard in Holland MI at 6pm of the Sunday following the Milwaukee bachelor party I went to. Does that help?

We did this last summer in Cleveland for one of our boys. It included: a fake championship belt that he wore to all the bars ("hey honey, wanna dance with the champ?"), a near fight with an angry Samoan who wanted said belt, next day Tigers/Indians followed by the groom experiencing DTs at Cedar Point the day after. Seriously, he was like John Daly. I wanted to wrap him up in my jacket and tell him "everything is going to be ok." It was a great time and he didn't have to apologize to the Mrs. for loving/touching/paying for boobies. The only drawback was that we had only a handful of guys that could make it for the whole trip.

I have been to Put-In Bay before and definitely rock the Michigan gear during the day. Might tone it down for Michigan gear at night w/ everyone as fucked up as they are. I usually just wear a M hat at night. It is a great place for a bachelor party b/c there is guaranteed to be at least 10 bachelorette parties there. There is pool bars to drink at during the day which I would definitely recommend doing. Splash is the biggest, but the Islander, Blue Marlin, Mr. Ed's are cool in that order. Most will be crammed w/ drunk middle age people, a DJ and swim-up bars. At night, take your pick for bars. There are a ton of them and mostly they are all fun. My favorites are Frosty's (good place for pizza and dinner), Round House, Boathouse, Beer Barrell. You will prob. end up in them all at some point and remember half. For a bit nicer dinner I would recommend the Boardwalk. There are no strip clubs that I know of so there is a downer. Depending on how many guys you have, I would recommend getting a cottage or hotel rooms. Never stayed in one there but I know there are plenty. They are a bit pricer than your average hotel but you can cram a bunch of guys in. All I know about camping is that it is far away and you will probably spend the money in cabs and drinking at bars opposed to beer you brought. And you will prob. lose a few guys in the process. Lastly, transportation to the island. If you have a boat take it and crash on it. Solves a lot of problems. Miller ferry on Catawba Island is cheapest, like $6 one way but it takes you to the southside of the island but you can get a bus for $3. You can take a car on that if you want to have all your gear and I suppose you could sleep in it. I do not know the price for that. Jet Express dumps you downtown for $13 each way. Last one is at like 1 am and you can get some cheaper hotels in Port Clinton. All in all it is a blast of a weekend. You won't want to look at booze for a week or so. Every weekend in July will be fun there.

Listen to everything this man says. Putt-In-Bay is a 'stocked pond' of bachelorettes. Catch and release is fun. If you have single guys in the party and they have any iota of game they will do fine. Either way, the lack of strip clubs on the island won't be a problem as all the guys will be distracted. I don't understand why when I go I see 10+ bachelorette parties and almost NO bachelor parties.. It's always baffled me. Though, the weekend won't be cheap. The hotels on the weekend run $300 a night. Your best bet is to look for a house or cottage to rent. Last time I went, these 6 cougars had rented a condo that had two floors and 4 bedrooms. I don't know what they paid for it, but the beds were comfy. We normally take my buddies 38' searay and crash on it. The $600 in gas round trip from monroe covers what a hotel would have cost us. Word of warning depending on the age of your group: Pace yourself. The drinking lasts 24 hours there. Don't get too drunk at Splash before noon.

Used to sling drinks there after college. Check out the rental houses online and get on it now if you want something for July. Take plenty of beer over with you. You can take a car over to the island on the Miller Ferry for about $20 one-way. DO NOT DRIVE ANYTHING IF YOU'VE BEEN DRINKING. The cops on the island will give DUI's out on a moments notice - car, golf cart, scooter, bike...doesn't matter. If you get arrested you're in for some trouble getting back to the mainland w/ your buddies. Overall its a cool experience but plan on spending some cash in the bars. Food is a little pricey too. If you end up going, do not miss Mad Dog at the Round House during the day on the weekends. Great time. I'll be up there w/ a huge BP myself in the middle of July.

Vegas is cheap and way more fun than Put-In-Bay. I had my bachelor party in Vegas. I used to roll my eyes when I heard people say "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". Not anymore. Don't miss this opportunity Bro. At least strike camping from your list. No good story ever began: "You gotta hear about my bachelor party. I went camping with some dudes and whoa was it a wild time..."

Bored in Vegas? To each is own, but how could you not find something to occupy your time in that city? I'm honestly curious. I'm with you on the casino thing. I've never enjoyed sitting at a black jack table for hours pissing away money like some of my friends, but the pools, people watching, shows, etc. etc. etc. are plenty to make me act like a...oh how did he put it "dog whose blood is 90% cocaine".

Casinos are boring to me, because I only like games of skill (poker, for example), not games of chance. A bunch of my friends went to a strip club, and I don't like strip clubs. People love the buffets, but I don't like buffets because I just end up stuffing myself. The entertainment in Vegas is somewhat lame, because they chooser performers with mass appeal (Celine Dionne, really?) rather than original talent. Things in Vegas were just too hokey and glitzy for me. Give me a grungy bar, a garage band, a pool table, a flat-screen TV, a good movie, a poker table, a euchre game, some sort of athletic game, and I'm happy. I don't need bells and whistles and flashing lights to have fun. Obviously, I have no problem with people liking Vegas. To each his own. It's just not my thing.

But an early party weekend revolving around the UM spring game would be the ticket for me. Other than that, Put-in-Bay would be boffo.

Beavis, we went to Milwaukee because nearly all 25 participants were either living in Chicago or all over Michigan. I myself spent a decade in Chicago, so, it was kind of like we had done it all. Needed new turf. Its only about a 90 minute drive past Chicago.

A few years back I got a room with a bunch of friends at the Sky Dome one weekend when the Tigers were in town. It's your own luxury box (granted you are up high in the outfield)... the rooms are expensive but you don't have to buy game tickets or expensive stadium beers (just bring in your own beer by the case). Plus, Toronto is a great/fun city with the added exotic bonus of being in a foreign country.

Some of my friends (way back in the day) used to go to Windsor for parties as the drinking age is 19 (or used to be). It made some things easier. It isn't far from A2 and could be a nice change of pace.

I'm 26, so my summers the last couple years (including this one) are packed with bachelor parties of all kinds. I've done, or will do after this year: Rented cottage on Lake Michigan, Downtown Detroit for Tigers Game / Casino, Rented Mansion (literally) in Chicago for a long weekend, Vegas (twice), Grand Rapids night out, Piston's game w/ night out after, and for my trucker cousin...a strip club just outside Clare, MI (best people watching ever). Vegas is insane and I would totally recommend, however the cheapness of flights and hotels can be outweighed quickly by overpriced drinks, gambling, and "expenses" at the strip club. For the Lake MI and Chicago weekends we rented huge, awesome places on the cheap through www.VRBO.com. You get unreal prices if you barter with them, especially close to the weekend w/ vacant properties. There are property listings in every city you can imagine.

for my bachelor party was have my buddies over for a bbq and bon fire and we drank a shit ton of beer... does it sound hill billyish? yes... but it was a spur of the moment thing, because it was the night of my wifes bachelorette party... i decided to have party that night because i was friends with all of the boyfriends/husbands of the girls that were going out with my wife that night... so instead of having them drop off and leave the guys had the option of staying and partying... we drank beer, told stories, and watched football... to me that is way better then going bar hoping and spending a few hundread dollars... also if you want some entertainment, you can always get a dancer...

I bet you guys had more fun than a lot of parties that try to insert all of the wild stuff, just to achieve a certain level of debauchery. Good call on strippers being the only good part of the strip club, delivery is the way to go. Ass to ass!
