I wonder if that is what Stewart wanted all along.  At any rate, I can't imagine him getting another job anytime soon.  Who would want to hire someone that might try to cost him his job by "leaking" unflattering information to the media?

Even dumber (a full 10 derps out of ten) when the current coach has no say in the selection/timeline. Has the coach-in-waiting thing went smoothly ANYWHERE other then Purdue?

Actually, that would be one of my prime examples of it not going smoothly. Bowden hated Fisher and fought tooth and nail to get another year. It split the fanbase down the middle.

oregon had a lot of rumors about bellotti being forced out. notice he retired from the AD post only one year (i think) in.

and wisco never named bielema a coach-in-waiting. alvarez retired to the AD spot and then selected bielema to replace him.

Everyone knew Bielema was brought in to succeed Alvarez but they were smart in not announcing it as a formal arrangement. Bielema was a talented defensive coordinator in his own right. The idea was to let him run the defense while he learned how to run the program under Alvarez, all while Alvarez could train him and assess whether he was the right guy.

It worked out well overall but the process was not without its snags. There was a lot of resentment among older assistants who spent considerable time working under Alvarez, especially when Bielema indicated he would take a look at the staff from scratch rather than automatically retain Alvarez's people or elevate them to the coordinator positions. This led to some shakiness in 2008, but Bielema has gotten things together since then and maintained a good staff/program identity.

This all depends on whether they're telling the truth or not. If so, who's the one with no class in this situation?

I would fully expect Carr/ RR/ Hoke to bring to light things that might severely harm the University in whatever way they could.

That said, I hope this drags out for the next six months. Que the non-OSU popcorn.

Pitt and WVU seem on kind of parallel tracks right now, which seems unusual to me. Stewart did enough to compete every few years with inferior talent, which is unacceptable in Morgantown (RR was king at that); he's a goner. The Stache did the same, but underachieved with more talent.

In my mind at least, the BE has been two premier programs (in that not a lot of people would talk the same way with either making the BCS every year) and a premier level coach in Kelly. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next year, with Wannstedt and Stewart gone, Kelly's Cincinnati in ruins, and with the added element of Magee & Co wearing Old Gold.

You mean like in 2010? Wannstedt and Stewart both got canned after BE co-Championships.

I'm hoping this new controversy puts WVU somewhere in the 4-8 range with a loss to Marshall and without a clear coach for 2012. Not to mention a huge season for Pitt with Graham taking big yards against soft defenses.

I thought it was a blue bodysuit with a maize visor, but I guess my conceptualization of "maize" differs from yours.  But yeah, I've been cooking up a serious FU casserole with all the smack talk I've been laying down lately.  Stupid scandal bringing out my inner snark(TM).

Stewart: Gee golly wiz, boys, it's been swell teaching you! Feel free to come over for some apple pie on Sunday.

Holgorosononsen:  WASSUP BRAH! LET'S DRINK AND SMASH THESE CHICKS ON THE REG, TEAM. PLAY FAST, LIVE FASTER. WHERE MY MAN DEVINE AT - oh, he graduated?

We know of our immediate impact, but throw OSU (and Arkansas) into the mix, and it gets even more interesting. And I had forgotten that Missouri got bombed the same day.

Like the normal one off of the fucking apple tree. Guess this is the result of all of that inbreeding.

Don't know the contract situation, but they should look into the possibility of firing Stewart with cause and not pay him a dime.

The guy was clearly trying to humiliate the school, keep his own job or get paid without having to work with Holgorsen. Truly deplorable behavior that I hate to see get rewarded.
