OT: Best round of golf and how you play?
- Best round of golf is about a 112 on what must be the easiest course in the whole Midwest.
- I play like shit. Oh, rules. I don't do gimmes or mulligans. I'd only be kidding myself.
80. Twice. Many years ago.
I haven't played very well in a long time. There isnt an eraser big enough now to get my score down there.
Generally when I play, it's with people that don't take the game very seriously, and we will bend the rules from time to time.
67, twice. putt everything out. no handicap, no spot in our game.
if no warm up first, you can take two off the first tee. but if you hit two, you have to play the 2nd.
18 beers. 9 shots. Couldn't keep score by the turn.
Best Score is a 64. That was before becoming a Head Golf Professional. Don't play golf much when you work in the business unfortunately.
on nice courses to play South of A2 area?
Exit 5 on 23. Pretty wide open links course, nice greens and Arthur hills design.
This is something I guess I just don't appreciate about being A Head pro, that you can't play a round at least once a week. Or maybe it's that you don't want to play when the not particularly attractive opportunities arise, I..e, with an annoying club member or current student. I feel for you.
My best was a 79 at Cantigny, Wheaton, IL. Don't remember which tees.
Shoutout to the Pro that I'm currently hooked up with (golf, you perverts), Steve Dell at Whittaker Woods in New Buffalo. It's a great track, run to be respectful of golf and fun.
66. very strict on rules
At PGA QUALIFYING COURSE IN PALM SPRINGS
But it was an easy course I played weekly in a league. Put me on a tough course and it may well have been an 85. Not all par 4's are created equal!
You may find your score improve some if you played a good course. Most public courses are shit and the grounds are maintained minimally.
Would like to see a pro play some of these public courses where there is no stopping the ball on the green because they are too hard.
I shot 78 at Huron Hills once a couple years ago. I don't do mulligans but I play with gimmes and fluff ups. Two off the first tee if no warmup.
69 is my best. It was in high school when I played daily so it was 5yrs ago. When I play now I will do gimmies from within 2ft. If I'm playing for nothing I don't want to watch people grind over 2ft putts. It takes forever and people get too mad.

Shot an 84 on Friday, was really pleased with myself until I saw I had 38 putts :(.
Tend to keep fairly strict rules, but it depends on who I'm playing with. If it's with my typical foursome then everything is by the book excpet for the breakfast ball on 1. If it's with friends who don't normally play, then things relax a little bit.
On a side not if there are any Mgoblogers in the Chicagoland looking to meet up and play a round or two I'd always be down.
71 at Lake Forest. Play the ball down. Gimmies are okay for speed of play, but putt all birdies/pars. The putt or chip that got it there says a lot about whether a gimmie is given. Ready golf. With no warm up a 2nd ball on #1 is allowed, but if you hit it, you play it. No mulligans after that.
My home course growing up was Orchard Lake so I played FLCC a few times.
My best is 80 at a nice Air Force base course in Japan. Fairly strict on rules, only exception is gimmes inside the leather.
Shot 69 twice.. Once in a HS tourney. Got down to about a +1 HCP in college. Now just play for Fun and I'm about a 3 HCP. Definitely like to play by the rules esp when I'm gambling.

I shot a 78 at Serradella at Lakewood Shores in the morning round and followed that up with a 81 at Red Hawk that afternoon. When I played a lot we were pretty strict about the rules. No handicaps, no mulligans and no gimmie's.
Been trying to break 100 for the past two years. Did it last week for the first time and then proceeded to shoot a 91 at Leslie on Friday.
One 'breakfast ball' per round meaning one re-hit from the tee if you go OB. Gimmes from putter length.
I have got a 3 handicap!
My woods, my irons, and my putter.
was attending The Masters practice round some 20 years ago.
Other than that, an 89 at Pipestone Creek near Benton Harbor (par there is 36-31-67) a long, long time ago was my best. I only broke 100 a couple other times.
Last time I golfed I started par-bogey-birdie-bogey-par on the first 5 holes at Lake Michigan Hills GC, then proceeded to fall apart (as usual) and shoot around 110. I've never done league golf at any level, softball (slowpitch and modified fastpitch) was my game until my early 40's.
and a couple of his friends to the Buick Open at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc. Tiger got on a roll and birdied something like 5 of seven holes. Following him around the course was just nuts. We got virtual photos with Tiger Woods by signing up for Buick promo emails for a 1 year period. Walking on the fairways was like walking on carpet over a plush carpet pad. No wonder they can hit those huge divots.
I don't golf 18 except in scrambles. I usually golf 9 and mostly with leagues associated with work. Shot a 39 on the front nine at Wittmore Lake in prep for a scramble there the following week.
105 is my best. I count all strokes, drops and OOB. I do play 1 mulligan per 9. Not bad for no lessons and no one to teach me how to play, but yea not very good at all.
I play for those perfect shots and putts. Keeps me coming back every time.
Like my game. Most times I play I am right around 100. I think if I would have had lessons I could be better.
Generally we'll do gimmes if it's not a scoring shot, meaning if the putt is for par or better, you putt that out. I'm not going to stand there and watch someone putt a 3-footer for a 7 on a par-4.
On the front 9
69 is my best on a relatively easy course. 71 is the best on a decent course near traverse city. It has to be from white. I can't hit too far, unless I want 1 out of 9 on the fairway. I have been playing for 10 years. I am good with one mulligan, 2 foot gimmes. Fluffing is fine also. I play for fun and for me that means enjoy and torture yourself with 6 inch grass around the green.
about 130. I figure if i'm paying that much for 18 holes, I'm going to get in as many swings as I can! :)
Shot in the mid-80s once at a local muni course around where I live on a really rainy day. Only time I've ever beat my father-in-law because he really struggled in the weather. Shot 90 once at Hawk Hollow (last two of three nines) once. Generally, my goal is to break 100, though.
I have the tools to be a bogie golfer, but am just completely inconsistent. But it's not inconsistent where I hit my driver really well on one hole and then terrible the next. I'll hit my driver great for a full day, but will suck on the greens. Great around the greens the next day, but can't hit an approach shot anywhere near the green. I can typically get a birdie or two per 18 holes and a handful of pars/bogies. Problem is when you get a 9, two snowmen, and a 7, it's hard to come back from hitting +15 over four holes. So yeah, do something like that and play about bogie golf the rest of the way and you get right around 100, which is me. I typically finish last with the people I play with for total score, but I can generally stick with them for skins which is nice (won the most skins the last two rounds I played: Eagle and five birdies over two rounds; finished last both rounds in total score).
As for rules, the only major one I typically don't follow is when you hit the ball OOB. We play OOB like water, drop it where it goes in. Some of these courses it's difficult to tell what's OOB and I hit enough close to the line that it just kind of sucks to slow everyone down.
Upper 70s several times. Think closes to par I ever was was 3 over. I play normal league rules here. Fluff ball within 6 inches. Gimmes are from other people. No mulligans though typically.
This year has been very bad for me and golf I've only gotten out 3 times. Past 6-7 years I've golfed 2-3 times a week so my game is hurting.
I do rock the full Michigan bag on all the northeast Ohio courses here though.
1. 74
2. Fast and loose, unless for $$. For me it's more about enjoying time with the folks I'm with. (Can't golf with assholes).
Playing with dudes who whine, pout and act like they are supposed to hit every shot is very annoying.
Best round of golf was 98 up until last sunday. I kept the driver and woods at the house and just used irons and shot an 86. My drivers and wood slice like no other. Only been playing 2 years with no lessons, which I should invest in. Play it as it lies 1 mulligan per 9 and 2 foot gimmies from bogey on up.
I didn't use a driver for the first 10 years I played and worked my way into the low teens handicap because of it. Admittedly, drivers got a lot more forgiving at some point which made the graduation easier.
Groove your irons first, then move up.
Best 18 hole score, but it was on a fairly easy course. Only other time i was under 90 was an 87 on yet another easy course. Usually i shoot in the mid to upper 90s, and only get pissed if i reach triple digits
No idea. I've never made it through a whole game without getting bored out of my mind. Golf is just awful. However riding around the course drunk is pretty fun.
31 for 9, but never broken 70 on 18.
Rules depend on who I'm playing with, the strictest being when playing solo.
69 twice, putting everything out.
Best round however, was 76 (+4) at Warwick Hills a Monday after Buick Open, from Pro tees, with Sunday pin placements left. Course played crazy hard with the PGA rough and greens at an 11-12. Have never been more nervous over a putt than I did for a 7 foot birdie on 17 after a 213 yard hybrid.
Little Traverse golf club.
35 on 9 (par 36) and 78 on 18 (par 72). Not part of the same day.
Those were in high school so pretty strict. But nowadays I don't give a fuck how my buddies and I play. It's just for entertainment so go ahead and roll the ball into a better lie. None of us are competing over anything
By the way, just got my new shoes in.
can I get those and how much?
Www.myjoys.com. Choose teams and alliances and you can design your own shoes.
Thanks!
79 on home course.
Fired a 82 on Michigan from the tips once. I did give myself a mulligan on first tee.
18 over.... The legal driving limit when I left the course (no, didn't drive. Stayed at casino)

Driving with an 18.08 doesn't sound very safe.
I was saying 18 beers over. It's hard for me to laugh at something that's impossible. Good try sir, but I award you no pointd
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
