OT: Anyone read the pensblog?

Submitted by rick55 on
Because as a wings fan, I don't. But I did happen to scroll over there today and made the mistake of reading their story on why they think Pavel Datsyuk satisfies criteria to prove the Ewing Theory (For those who are lost at this point, head on over to check out the post, which details the theory.) Now, I know after games three and four, they are looking for any and every reason, with good reason of course, to be confident, but, that has to be the dumbest god damn thing I've ever read. I am now looking forward to Datsyuk and Zetterberg cornholing Malkin and Crosby tonight even more than I've been. Perhaps then people will realize what a TWO WAY forward looks like. Go Wings Edit: http://www.thepensblog.bloguin.com/ the link is to the site, it is the first story.

I checked it out before the Caps series; the first post on the page was an 1800-word diatribe on how Mike Green is "among the worst defensemen in the NHL." Needless to say I stopped after that.

Just an FYI before you guys blanket all Penguins fans; it's not a particularly well respected source for Penguins information. In fact, it's held in quite low esteem. I just wanted to point that out because it appears that some of the comments here are assuming that all Penguins fans believe that guy's crap.

Detroit kicked their ass tonight. I really have to say this, Malkin and Crosby are both incredibly large bitches. I fucking hate both of them now. I used to like Pittsburgh, now I think they are a bunch of little bitches. Detroit is the king of the hockey world.

totally agree on malkin. he just looks for trouble when he gets frustrated. crosby to a lesser extent, but he probably got frustrated when he got a few 'crosby sucks' chants. and anyone else love when hossa checked goran (pitts 2nd string sieve)? not necessarily for the check but because i could feel the hatred for hossa quadruple amongst pens fans. very schadenfreude-y

Your argument was that Crosby/Malkin taking cheap shots means that they are "bitches". When I read bitches in this context, I think punk, jerk, classless, etc. My point was that you seem to be criticizing their breaking of the rules while championing Hossa's. You, as well as the majority of people in this thread/on this board, should really work on that objectivity thing.

I know it's against the rulebook, but in my opinion a goalie who attempts to play the puck outside of his crease should be fair game. It's kind of like a QB taking off for a run without being able to get hit, except this version has ironclad padding and could probably kill you with the glove on his right hand if he chose (anyone who's ever had the privilege of receiving a blocker the head will attest to this). I'm not condoning it, but damn, wouldn't it be nice? They're called netminders... not trapezoid minders. On Malkin and Crosby.. I'm actually okay with Crosby. The guy's very good on both ends of the ice, you can't fault him for that. Malkin, however, is a little bitch. The number of cheap shots I've seen him dish out over the course of the season has me truly dismayed. If you are looking to piss somebody off, why not do it in a way that's even remotely legal? (see: Kronwall v. Havlat)

I honestly prefer Malkin taking runs at guys 100x to Crosby's diving and crying. At least Malkin reacts in a traditional hockey style. If you spend all your time plotting a face wash after the whistle that's not going to win you the game but at least it's tried and true hockey behavior.

No rings, plays poorly in big spots, creates a bad locker room with his constant bitching and that horrible playoff "beard" that he stole from a looney toons villian. I hope the wings seal the deal in pitt, and all those jackoff, know nothing, brainless crosby/malkin fans can watch hossa hoist the cup with a team who can draft when not picking first overall. DISCLAIMER: I'm sure there exist good pens fans, and I harbor no ill will towards them other than wanting them to lose to the wings, but I hate the group of fans who think sid the sissy and malkin are the slickest thing on skates. I want them to suffer, and nothing will be better than watching the man who told them they weren't good enough, hoisting the cup on their ice, with the team they just can't beat...it makes me tingly...

And this type of attitude, right here, is why I can't stand most Red Wings fans anymore. A significant number of the newer generation of Wings fans just have no ability to win with class. I don't know if it's the fact that most of them have never had to deal with losing like we did growing up, or what, but it really is pathetic. I love the Wings, but honestly it's embarrassing to have to listen to some of you sometimes. Win with class and let the product on the ice speak for itself.

"I don't know if it's the fact that most of them have never had to deal with losing like we did growing up" If ANYONE can understand and appreciate the Wings' excellence since the early 90's, it's people who experienced how bad they were from the mid 70's until the late 80's. I do agree that Malkin and Cindy haver to dedicate themselves to becoming great 2-way players and showing true leadership by example, or the Pens run the risk of getting close but never finishing. And the bandwagon Pens fan are completely ignorant of that. In today's game, you can't leave the dirty work to role players and be an effective leader. This is Steve Yzerman's legacy. We're fortunate to have the gold standards of 2 way play in Zetterberg and Datsyuk.

For the bandwagon Pens fans that's true, but so are the misconceptions that people have about Crosby and Malkin that don't watch a lot of their games, in general whether the person is a bandwagon Pens fan or a fan of another team. Both of them are, in fact, responsible in their own ends. Maybe not quite to the degree of Datsyuk or Zetterberg, but you also have to remember that they are significantly younger than either Pavel or Henrik. Just remember back to the criticisms leveled at both both Pavel and Henrik when they were the same age as Crosby and Malkin. It's not a fair comparison to make between the four players, really. Crosby and Malkin will grow into the role, just like Pavel and Henrik did. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that both Crosby and Malkin are better defensive players right now than either Datsyuk or Zetterberg were at the same age. Just as one example, Malkin lead the league in take-aways this year. Also, I certainly hope that you're not implying that all Pens fans are bandwagon fans, which is the way that the wording of your post came across.

but the collective fallback among most Pens fans is "look how good Crosby and Malkin are". And my reply is the post above. They won't be complete until they're bloodying their noses on the PK, among other things. FWIW, I think Malkin's a far more complete player than Sid.

Eh, it's hard to say because they are different defensive players. Crosby is a much better player down low in his own zone and much better on faceoffs than Malkin, but Malkin is better high in his own zone and in the neutral zone.
