OT: AAPD wants Skeeps' liquor license taken away
According to a memo from the AAPD to the Liquor License Review Committee, the PD is recommending that Scorekeepers' liquor license not be be renewed. Police had to make 156 visits in 2017. Could be a sad day for many on this board, as that would surely put the place out of business.

As a freshman in the 80's it was the place to be on Thursday nights. Thursday night was half price pitcher night. I met up with this dude that was several years older than I was that happened to have graduated from my high school. He was there every Thursday night and became my regular buyer. I always drank beer at Dooley's on Thursday nights two pitchers at a time. It was grand.

I was a bouncer at Scorekeeper's in 1997-98. Lots of long nights turning away horrible fake IDs and getting NYPD pizza at 4 AM. Good times, those.
Like Ashley's, Skeep's was a beer bar before beer bars were a thing. I always appreciated that. Didn't appreciate the unique odor that seemed to permeate from my very soul after a shift at that place, though.

What was your go-to-question that always stumped folks with fake IDs?

Ha - I used to do that. My best move when I thought somebody was using a fake ID would be to ask their friend what that person's name was. Worked every single time. They would spend so much time memorizing their own fake ID, but they would never tell their friends what their name was on the ID.

I wasn't really huge into it outside of Tuesday's until my senior year but the group of friends I integrated into that year were rampant Skeeps enthusiasts, toss in that I had a couple friends who worked there and I have many many fond memories at 310 Maynard. Granted, if it were to close down I'm sure students would find elsewhere to drink and make memories but for me personally, Skeeps was a big part of one of my favorite years at Michigan, so seeing it close down and as someone previously mentioned, turn into some hipster absinthe bar, would be massively disappointing to me as a Michigan grad and Ann Arbor lifer/native

In may day (78-82), it was Dooley's. Didn't go much, but must've heard Never Been Any Reason by Head East on the sound system each time. On a winter night, someone decided that peppermint Schnapps shots would be a good idea. It wasn't and it didn't end well for me.

I mean, back in 2007-2008 timeframe I used to let people in with credit cards, Mcards, Library Cards, etc so this isn't a suprise. The AAPD has hated Skeeps for years.

It was Dooley's when I was there. I think it's lost its liquor license like 10 times since then.
Yet it always returns.
When they drop the big one, there will still be cockroaches . . . and Skeeps.
